President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho have once again traded harsh words, escalating their recent rivalry. The two addressed parallel rallies in Mombasa on Sunday, with Uhuru and the Jubilee brigade addressing supporters in Jomvu, while Joho and the opposition pitched tent in Mvita.
"Calling yourself sultan and chest thumping does not put food on the table or solve the problems at the Coast," Uhuru said in reference to Joho, whom he described as a 'failed governor'.
Speaking a few kilometers away at Mvita Constituency, Joho said: "Coast people should look at Uhuru Kenyatta as a tourist because his visits will not sway our people," Joho said.
The Mombasa governor further said that the Jubilee government named Mombasa as a potential violence hotspot to try and scare some communities from voting in the next month’s polls, saying that the Coast County was peaceful.
"Coast is peaceful and there is no cause for alarm. We have called this rally to show the region is peaceful and we will not be divided along tribal or religious lines," said Joho.
Earlier, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed a rally in Malindi, Kilifi County where he hit out at Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, who he accused of insulting him during NASA rallies.
"The same governor who all the time insults me accompanied me to Malindi hospital last year to receive medical equipment that my government brought and yet he still peddles lies that my government has neglected you,” Uhuru said.
"During the 'nusu mkate' government, it is only Kingi who benefited with a ministerial position but in my government, the whole of Coast region has been covered," he added.
"You will all have a chance to decide during the General Election which directional path you want the country to go, whether it is us or them," he added.
Today, I saw an image of "Uhuru" having a beer openly in public. This man should not hold any public elective position! He is promoting "alcoholism" to the innocent young Kenyan minds and a bad example to the young Kenyans who might think that it is okay to drink beer!
He should be arrested immediately and taken straight to a "drug rehabilitation center."
There are things that are wrong and any parent should be careful not to expose their "dirty little secrets in public." Uhuru is not fit to lead Kenya!
Kenyans, " Amkeni ndugu zetu ..." Elect a moral leader and a teetotaler but not a drug addict like Uhuru! This chap also smokes cigarettes.
