NASA Says Kalonzo Could Be 'Sworn in' as Deputy President in Germany

The National Super Alliance (NASA) says that it is considering 'swearing in' Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as Deputy President outside the country.

Addressing the media on Saturday, People’s Assemblies organizing Committee Chief Executive Officer Jared Maaka Siso said that NASA was holding consultations to plan on how Kalonzo will be installed as DP in abroad.

This comes a day after the opposition outfit unveiled a programme to be used during the inauguration of its leader Raila Odinga in the ceremony scheduled for December 12th.

“We will open with a national anthem followed by prayers led by various religious leaders. Then there will be a formal declaration of the congregation gathered. The fourth item will be adoption of the agenda. The fifth item will be the inauguration of the leadership and the sixth will be the address by leaders of the assembly,” said Orange Democratic Movement Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen during a press briefing at Okoa Kenya offices in Nairobi.

On Thursday, Attorney General Githu Muigai warned the planned swearing in could have the opposition leader charged with high treason, which is punishable by death.

"I reiterate the any attempts to swear in any person as president other than the one elected in line with the constitution and in a manner provided for in the law is unlawful, illegal null and void ab initio," Prof Muigai told journalists at the State Law office in the capital Nairobi.

Kalonzo travelled to Germany on October 11th to attend to his wife Pauline, who is receiving specialised treatment for an unknown illness in the European country.
