State House 'Bans' Jubilee MPs From Attending Live TV, Radio Shows

State House has reportedly banned all Jubilee Party Members of Parliament against appearing in any live Radio or Television shows.

The Star reports that the orders were made on Tuesday during a Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President Uhuru at State House in Nairobi.

The paper further reports that the ruling party's lawmakers have also been advised against making any public announcements on matters touching the party and government, without prior authorisation from party leaders.

“As you might have noticed, we are not talking to the media as per the instructions given to us by his Excellency the President and Deputy President,” a Jubilee MP told the Star and requested for anonymity for fear of reprisal.

“He [Uhuru] was categorical that the caveat must be respected at all cost,” he said adding the President was tough on his words.

“We are in dilemma even when we feel we have strong and persuasive views we want to articulate. We are missing a lot on constructive public discourse.”

Jubilee MPs and Senators will be required to seek permission from National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen, before appearing in any show.

This move is seen as a strategy by President Kenyatta's administration to establish and maintain a straight communication line.

“We have done that because we feel that as Jubilee our priority is not to respond to allegations being thrown left, right and centre. We want to be coherent in our communication,” a Jubilee leader in Parliament told the Star.

You would need an actual restraint placed on a certain Mpig from Central whose favorite pass time is to attack Baba on TV.Let us see if this one can be tamed.

this is ridiculous..you mean this adults elected to represent their cocnstituencies cannot police themselves...now jubilee is over reaching if it has to censor its mpigs like that.why not deal with the errant party instead of implementing a sweeping rule that does not apply to majority

Uhuru needs an immediate medical checkup! No president in the entire history of Kenya has gone this low.

I challenge all Jubilee members with a mind left after this assault to initiate immediate impeachment proceedings because I strongly believe that strongly Uhuru is not okay upstairs!

As Ndugu @Maxiley said, " This is ridiculous ...you mean these adults elected to represent their constituents cannot police themselves..."

Uhuru's relationship with the media is at it's lowest. This was evidenced when he ordered them out of a conference, telling them their job is done. Kenya should not be a nanny state and the leaders should have free speech. If he has no confidence in the manner these guys are conducting themselves, then an internal procedure for those who go out of line should apply. Mind you, he has good reason to be fearful of their utterances, just cast a look at Kuria, Sonko and Jaguar to name but a few. Having said that, Uhuru takes the trophy at throwing shade at his opponents, so he equally needs to be censored before he goes out in public.

Uhuru, see what the American people and the media did to Barack Obama during his 8 years tenure in the White House; yet he remained calm and resurrected the US economy.

Could you survive (even) for one hour if you were the president of the United States.
