President Uhuru Kenyatta's Interview to Air Shortly on CNN

President Kenyatta is set to appear for an interview with CNN at 9pm Kenyan time (2pm Eastern US time) on Friday.

Hard-hitting anchor Christiane Amanpour will interview the president, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu announced on Thursday.

State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita earlier said the session would touch on several key issues regarding Kenya.

Amanpour is an award winning journalist who has in the past interviewed other top African leaders on her CNN show including Nigerian Head of State Muhammadu Buhari and former Presidents Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe), Jacob Zuma (South Africa) and Jonathan Goodluck (Nigeria).

She recently interviewed former British Prime Minister David Cameron. Amanpour met President Kenyatta on the periphery of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London.

President Kenyatta is in the United Kingdom for a week-long State visit.
