Lawyer Says Miguna Miguna Might Accept Nomination as Nairobi Deputy Governor

Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna's lawyer has hinted at possibility of the deported lawyer accepting his nomination as Nairobi Deputy Governor.

Speaking during an interview with Standard Digital, lawyer Cliff Ombeta said Miguna could take the position once he returns to the country from Canada.

Ombeta made the hint when he was asked what kind of client Miguna is.

He said: "Why would I discuss my client with the media? He is a good client to have. He is a gentleman. He takes advice, but sometimes, he acts on what he believes is correct, a trait that is admirable."

"He is a stickler for the law, and it’s very unfair how the government treated him. If the law was to be strictly followed, a lot of government big wigs who mistreated Miguna would be in jail."

"If he comes back, he has a high chance of becoming the deputy Governor," Ombeta said.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko nominated Miguna to the position in a letter presented to Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi last month.

“I hereby forward my nominee, Lawyer Miguna Miguna to undergo full vetting process and approval by the County Assembly for the position of Deputy Governor,” read part of the letter.

“The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act, the Elections Act and County Government Act.”

The seat fell vacant after the resignation of former holder Polycarp Igathe, who cited failure to win Sonko's faith.

If terrorist Miguna Miguna want to become a deputy governor or a governor he should seek it Mogadishu, Somalia where he has a lot of terrorist supporters. We in Nairobi knows what a terrorist is capable of doing having been victims of various terrorists and we are not going to allow him to become our deputy. We may have to go to Court to stop him. And for Sonko to nominate him, well, I have no word to describe his level of stupidity. Sonko is a mafia in all sense. He runs Nairobi like the way Idi Amin run Uganda
