Over 500 Senior Police Officers Moved in Major Reshuffle

More than 500 police officers have been moved to new stations in a major reshuffle by the National Police Service targeting senior officers.
The radical changes have seen over 500 police bosses in the rank of chief inspector and inspector transferred to new areas. In the reshuffle, 400 chief inspectors and 70 inspectors were taken to different jurisdictions to carry out similar or different assignments.
The changes were effected by Deputy Inspector-General in charge of Kenya Police Edward Njoroge. Njoroge said the shakeup aims at enhancing services across the country.
“The Deputy Inspector-General of Kenya Police Service has approved the deployment of the following officers with immediate effect. Release the officers to report to their new stations by August 14, 2018 and confirm departure/ arrival,” a circular sent to stations read.
Among those affected is Central Police Officer Commanding Station Alphonse Ngundo who has been moved to Kajiado, while Chief Inspector Joseph Ngao who headed Nairobi Area Traffic patrol has been transferred to the Kericho traffic office.
Mr Patrick Osuru from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit has been transferred to Nakuru Police Station, while the divisional traffic officers for Kilimani and Lang'ata have been taken to Murang'a and Kajiado respectively.
Regional command, the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, Kenya Railways and Ports Police Unit, Traffic Department and Presidential Escort Unit are some of the departments affected by the changes.
Others are Dog Unit, Diplomatic Police Unit, Maritime Unit, Tourist Police Unit and the Police Staff Colleges.
