Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has threatened to sue four Jubilee party leaders for linking him to drug trafficking.
In a letter, Joho's lawyer has given Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa, his counterparts Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) a 24-hour ultimatum to issue a public apology.
"We have instructions to immediately set into motion legal action against you for defamation and seek damages for your spurious and slanderous statements," the letter reads.
Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi last week, the four claimed that Governor Joho has destroyed the lives of many Kenyan youths through the ‘drug business that he runs’
Through his lawyer Kelvin Ochieng, Joho accuses the four Deputy President William Ruto's allies of malice and public ridicule.
“The statements were not only reckless but made with utmost malevolence, wickedness, were offensive and meant to inflict the greatest harm to our client’s reputation,” the lawyer says.
Joho has also demanded that media that carried the reports from the four politicians to delete the articles.
The four were responding to Joho's earlier claims that Opposition leader Raila Odinga asked his camp to support President Kenyatta and oppose Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
He also said Ruto is not fit to be President because he has been implicated in several corruption scandals.
“I am extremely against the presidential bid of Ruto, this country cannot be led by someone like Ruto because of his bad integrity,” Joho said while speaking in Busia.

Until Joho is formally charged in a court of law, calling him a drug dealer is defamation.
Why don't you seceded with your drug dealers and take the others with you? Perhaps they supply you with some of their goodies that's why you are as crazy as a sprayed roach.
Why is this news? Threats by leaders in Kenya are not news. We all know the song the boy in statehouse has been singing for seven years about corruption.

No one is a drug trafficker unless they get caught. Your time will come. Where did you get all this wealth from.We all know hau kusoma Surely jetting in and out of Weddings on your personal jet is not cheap. Bringing in acts like Ali Kiba who charge over 1M to perform .Furthermore if it walks like a duck it probably is. Common characteristics of drug dealers flashy always and throwing money around

Those dudes you are threatening to sue are recycling the news that have been going on for almost 10 years. This not something they have made up. Can you sue for old news or folk tales?

Joho cant deny the accusations he is pending on the ladder of Newyork courts for extradiction to answer charges together with others.

Kenyans don't want to believe the truth. These guys are all involved in shady business. Drug trafficking is among one of them. Most foreign government agencies such as the the DEA, FBI, etc have all these information. They are not afraid to share with the appropriate government unlike our government which has been completely compromised by corruption. The governor can sue all he wants. The evidence is stored somewhere else.
