26 Candidates to Battle for ODM Ticket Ahead of Kibra By-Election

At least 26 candidates are set to battle it out for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket ahead of Kibra parliamentary by-election on November 7th.

Speaking during a public rally in Kibra on Sunday, ODM leader Raila Odinga said they will hold a nomination exercise on Saturday, August 31st to decide who among the 26 will fly the party’s flag in the mini-poll.

Among those eyeing ODM ticket include Benson Musungu (ODM National Youth Coordinator), Imran Okoth (late MP Ken Okoth brother and PA), Reggae DJ Kriss Darlin, Sigar Agumba, Peter Orero (Dagoretti High School Principal), and Ochieng Jera.

Odinga’s daughter Rosemary Odinga dismissed claims that she is interested in the seat that was left vacant following the death of MP Ken Okoth.

“I will not be able to vie in Kibra, but I wanted to come here today to greet and talk to you and to say I will keep interacting with you to the end,” said Odinga.

Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital on July 26th, 2019.
