‘I’ve Never Stolen Anything’, CS Amina Mohamed Tells Critics as She Threatens Action

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has threatened to take unspecified action against media houses publishing false information about her ministry.

Speaking on Sunday, Ms. Amina defended her performance at the helm of the sports docket, dismissing claims that she had failed.

She spoke days after she faced heavy criticism from Kenyans online following reports that Kenya’s national netball team was stranded in South Africa after the ministry failed to settle their accommodation bill.

Amina, who spoke to Citizen TV on Sunday, said the reports are inaccurate and action would be taken against those behind them. She insisted that her integrity is intact.

“We worked very hard to ensure that they (netball team) were able to travel. If there is a story out there that is negative and that is not correct, we will take action,” said Amina.

“Today (Sunday) there is another story and we’ll take action again…you can’t continue doing wrong to an institution or an individual, it doesn’t work.”

She added:  “I want to say this: I don’t have to prove anything as Amina Mohamed. I have nothing to prove. I have been in government for 35 years now and I’ve never stolen a penny, my integrity stays intact, try and attack me on that and you’ll get nowhere…”

Amina described her performance at the Sports ministry as impressive citing the 2019 Africa Games in Morocco and the IAAF World Athletics Championships held in Doha.

“We supported the team that went to Morocco, we supported the team that went to Doha and I was there myself. I met with them severally in their camps.”

“We were number two (in Doha) and that is what we should be celebrating-– that we’re a sporting nation like no other in the continent,” she noted.

Seriously Amina ?? No one said you stole. Let me jog your memory Two Kenyan teams netball and hockey for example went for championship games. Both teams are best in Africa. What happened with accommodation? What happened with food? At least you succeeded in sending MPs and MCAs in business class tickets while our teams landed and expected to play on same day.. ooh by the way a Cameron Good Samaritan bought them food... it’s your incompetence madam. Someone stole and unfortunately it reflects on you... find the culprit or the patient else retire no one is forcing you to be the CS.. go home

Madame CS has informed us that the story was fake. And seriously, no coach will allow any team to arrive in a foreign country, and head straight to the game, without a break. It was a fake story.

Over three decades in government that's why it is time to vacate the seat and pave way for the youths. Your ministry is performing poorly. Remember no thieves will ever admit he/she stole.

The netball team was stranded in south africa. That is a a fact. You can't just revise history like that. The cuccess of the DOHA team was because of individual effort and sacrifice. How does meeting the athletes several times help an athlete like Yego throw the javelin and win when he has no practice facility in Kenya and has to depend on youtube!

I personally think that she is doing agood job.I have been a sports fun for along time, and on her watch I have see some improvement, especially the hands-on approach to athletics/athletes. However, I think that denying the "debacle" in south africa is the typical response of politicians doing damage control. She has an opportunity to clean the sports agencies, and improve efficiency.Improve on what's good,by makeing it better.Issues of finacial woes are not new to our sports men.Our president has vowed that this is a thing of the past. Lets hope so.

Amina is a decent lady and she surely does not look like she would steal anything. She looks as innocent as my auti Muta! I believe you Ms Amani!!
