Number of Covid-19 Infections in Kenya Hits 374

The number of Covid-19 infections in Kenya has jumped to 374 after 11 more people tested positive for the disease.

In a media briefing on Tuesday, April 28th, Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Health Dr. Rashid Aman said the 11 cases were detected from 589 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Seven of the 11 cases were recorded in Nairobi County and four are from Mombasa. The seven cases registered in Nairobi are spread out across four estates including Kawangware (4), Eastleigh (1), Manji (1), and Kaloleni (1), while all the four cases in Mombasa are Kibokoni area in Old Town.

“We, therefore, want to request residents of these areas to take extra measures to avoid contracting the virus,” said Dr. Aman.

He added: “It is important to note the trend of positive cases have been restricted to Nairobi and Mombasa. This indicative of increased local transmission in these two counties. The rest of the counties are advised to continue observing the containment measures.”

At the same time, Dr. Aman announced that the number of Covid-19 recoveries in Kenya has risen to 124 after 10 more patients were allowed to go home after they fully recovered from the bug. The death toll from the virus remains at 14.
