Radio Presenter Njogu wa Njoroge Fired Days After Joining Ruto’s UDA Party

Radio presenter Njogu wa Njoroge has lost his job days after joining Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Njoroge, who worked for Mediamax-owned Kameme FM and TV, says he was fired through a phone call on Monday.

“I received a phone call from the Programs Controller, who asked me not to report to work, permanently,” Njoroge told a local news outlet.

The seasoned vernacular show host linked his sacking to his affiliation with Ruto, adding that he was set to resign before February 9th to focus on politics.

“It is because of my affiliations, nothing else. I would have resigned to go and concentrate on politics,” he stated.

Njoroge, who was received to UDA by Ruto on Friday, announced he will contest for the Njoro parliamentary seat in the August 9th elections.

“There is time for everything as the good book of the Lord says, and as I transition to the next phase of my life I ask for your prayers and support,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I paid a courtesy call on Deputy President William Ruto and assured him we will work together in UDA in spreading the message of Bottom-Up in Njoro constituency where I will be seeking the people's mandate to represent them in the National Assembly.”

Njogu, who has been a staunch supporter of President Kenyatta, started his media journey as a sports presenter at KBC in the 2000s before joining Kameme FM and later Inooro Fm in 2006.

He later rejoined Kameme FM before moving to Radio Africa’s Gukena FM in 2014. In 2019, he returned to Kameme FM and TV station.

Stop your ignorance. Any journalist worth his/her salt should be impartial or at least keep an appearance of impartiality. He should have quit before gwtting into siasa...

Strongly disagree! What’s wrong in him living his truth! Has Fox News been impartial when it comes to politics? It’s freedom of speech! He has a legal right to affiliate with any party. It ain’t illegal or professional misconduct here in kenya!

I would never endorse Ruto, but, get the truth from me for free! Ruto will be the next president tupende tusipende! We can argue all we want but Majority of Kenyans are obsessed with this guy! They could careless of the ills he’s done! I have crisscrossed the country & majority are jumping to his ship! I am willing to bet on this!

You did not read my comment well or perhaps you misunderstood me. I said it clearly that I will NEVER vote for him period! However, I am in Kenya now and I am telling you he’s gaining ground & momentum politically now! The misguided & gullible citizens could care less that he’s corrupt etc! I have asked many of their rationales and majority are like, 1. We hate what Uhuru has done to the country. 2. Raila is Uhuru’s project - the famous handshake phenomenon. 3. Ruto is not a dynasty product, he’s a hustler just as we are. 4. His motto, “ bottom up economic” is hitting majority coz everyone is hurting now due to bad economy & inflation! 5. When you mention corruption etc, they are like it’s his turn turn to eat! 6. Sympathy votes; they beloved uhuru has mistreated him yet Ruto worked hard to ensure Uhuru was elected!

Now you have it! Majority will vote for him whether we like it or not! I am willing to bet!

My response was to @Kajanjeroni, who is celebrating Njogu's victimization. Kenyans should be allowed to vote for ODM/UDA/OKA/etc without fear. This reminds me of late President Moi who used to assure Kikuyus of peace if they voted KANU.

Dirty politics. Everybody knows who owns Kameme. The owner said Yake ni Ikumi na ya Ruto ni Ikumi. Of course he does not understand his mother tongue just like his father said wathani ndugakira Chania after all the kikuyu of Murang’a and Nyeri fought and even made up over 80% of Maumau.

This is why some people should not be allowed to make business decisions. Now he is fired, according to kenya law he must be given 30 days notice or get paid for another month. If he had resigned him self he was not to receive the extra months pay. Why incur a full monthly cost while you could have just let him work 2 more weeks? This is poor decision making. And actually he can sure for illegal termination due to political affiliation. Poor decisions by the management

LET'S UNDERSTAND that the MEDIA itself is also COMPROMISED. Why do they debate on some issues that are in black and white, yet they have two different opinions?
The MEDIA is ran by some of the wealthiest people across the board, they will make you a hero today and trash you tomorrow.
Most MEDIA personalities won't think INDEPENDENTLY for fear of losing a livelihood.
