Housemaid Charged with Stealing Sh104 Million from Her Nairobi Employer

A house help was on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly stealing Sh104 million and other valuables from her employer identified as Samar Al-Kindy.

Shelmith Kiprono, alias Jerop, appeared before magistrate Elector Riany at Kibera law courts following her arrest in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County last week.

Jerop is accused of stealing Sh4,000,000 in cash, USD$806,000 (Sh94 million) in cash, jewelry with an estimated worth of Sh4,000,000 as well as copies of car log book and title deeds all valued at over Sh104,000,000.

Police records show that only Sh2.5 million was recovered out of the Sh104 million she allegedly stole, according to The Star. She is charged alongside her accomplices Caleb Nagomere Rasto, Agaziva Brain Kenneth JacklineMinayo Kinzi and Eunice Akinyi.

They are said to have committed the crime on May 5th at Samar’s residence in Nairobi’s Lang’ata estate.

Through lawyer Danstan Omari, Samar told the court that she has been receiving threatening calls since the case began and wants the bond terms issued to Jerop’s co-accused to be cancelled.

Omari said the four were granted a Sh7 million bond last week which was later reviewed to Sh1 million, which the lawyer argues does not tally with the money that was stolen from his client.

He further told the court that the first accused Caleb Rasto, who managed to pay the bond, will not show up in court. Rasto was not in court on Monday and his lawyer claimed he is admitted to the hospital.

Rasto’s lawyer told the court that his client cannot escape because his co-accused Jackline Kinzi and Eunice Moi are his wives. Magistrate Riany issued a warrant of arrest against Rasto.

Shs 100m might be one customer’s payment to licensed druglord,Samar. But I wonder why some Kenyans complain about certain criminals but defend, worship and praise others like saints.I have never heard any of them questioning why/how Margaret Saitot has been in pocession of stolen child for 37 years.None of them complained after muuaji Raila violently grabbed DOMINION FARMS from developer Burgess. The savage even refused to pay shs 360m retrenchment packages to hungry billionaires from Alego and Yimbo.None complains about shs 2b.looted daily by Uhuru & Co.elite gangsters.RISASI TU.
