Museveni’s Son Muhoozi Holds Talks with President Uhuru at State House

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Wednesday paid a courtesy call to President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.
State House said Uhuru and Muhoozi, who is the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People's Defense Force, discussed several bilateral and multilateral issues of interest to Kenya and Uganda.
“Among the issues discussed included the restoration of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” State House said in a brief statement.
Muhoozi’s meeting with President Kenyatta comes amid reports that he is preparing to succeed his father in the next general elections in 2026.
In April, Muhoozi organized a lavish birthday party that was attended by his father and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda. The 48-year-old later hinted that he will run for the presidency through a post on his Twitter handle.
“When Team MK [Muhoozi Kainerugaba] wins power in this country, which we will, our first action will be to increase the sports budget. Team MK will announce our political programme soon,” he wrote.
In January, Muhoozi described Uhuru as one of the greatest presidents Africa has ever had, saying he is “intelligent, humble, and extremely charming.”
"My big brother, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, is one of the greatest Presidents Africa has ever had. He is intelligent, humble and extremely charming. Long live President Uhuru!!" he wrote on Twitter.
In September last year, the lieutenant general shared a photo of himself hanging out with President Uhuru at an undisclosed location in Nairobi.
“I was honored to visit my elder, my big brother, and my hero recently in Nairobi. President Uhuru is an inspiration to many of us across East Africa and Africa!” he captioned the image.
