Raila Pledges to Reduce Food Prices if Elected President

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga has pledged to lower the prices of food and other essential commodities if elected president in the August 9th elections.

Odinga, who is giving his fifth stab at the presidency, said his administration will prioritize lowering the cost of living by reducing the prices of flour, cooking oil, and fuel.

“Flour prices will go down, even cooking oil and paraffin, we must bring it down. We have resolved to make the cost of living bearable to Kenyans. People have suffered enough,” Raila said during a campaign rally in Masinga, Machakos County on Sunday.

He further pointed out that his proposed social protection program where families with no income will receive a monthly stipend of Sh6,000 each will improve their living standards, citing countries such as the US, Brazil, Namibia, and Egypt.

“Cases of children going without food will be unheard of again. Under the social protection program, these families will get money from the government. It has worked well in America, Europe, Brazil, India, Egypt and even Namibia,” said Odinga.

Raila was accompanied by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and other regional leaders including Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her Makueni counterpart Prof. Kivutha Kibwana.

Baba is promising to cut down prices of food commodities because a good chuck of the population is sleeping hungry as we speak.
Ruto is promising to buy women sanitary towels. Women, (except Asista) kindly ask Ruto to get his mind out of women private parts because afterall he has never worked for you, well, besides impregnating daddies girls at the university.

Mugikuyu, gracious you recognize the plight of Kenyans sleeping hungry. What you forgot is to compound the endemic to the current administration. And I’m sure you don’t need to be told who are the current managers of our political, social economic space in Kenya today. Uhuru and Raila have bankrupted the country creating a class of those who have the most and those that sleep hungry!
Ruto has already laid out is manifesto. And that covers mostly the poor. Sanitary pads is just nothing other than a good gesture coming out of its government. Sanitary pads even if supplied free will not run down a well managed budget. It’s not like free Ksh 6000 every month for thousands of unemployed. It’s not like free monthly money for single mothers. It not like free Babacare. All these coming from the man we know has been pocketing millions of taxpayers money as chief opposition party leader yet he has NOT been doing his job for the last four years. In fact like I said he is part and parcel of what ails Kenya today.

A toll order unless the government can subsidize food. That is Free Handouts which will lead to inflation. Do not make a promise you cannot fulfill.

@ Sakora, what you said exempts politicians. That's why they keep making empty promises, and the masses seem to know this, because they never hold them accountable to these failed promises. That said, I wouild love to see apolitician offer aconditional promise, such as," if my administration does not bring down the prices of food by 15%,within 100 days of my take over, I will donate 35% of my income to charity, and I shall make it public..." That's the kind of promise that might hold hope.Yes, back your words with action.

Muuaji Raila will as usual import poisonous maize which SA want to dump. His hopes to reduce and control Kenya’s population like his masters at the East. The guy sounds like Waititu who was paying unemployed people shs 500 daily using loan money. The savage will take more loans to pay 2m+ Kenyans shs 6000 p.m but he has no idea of how the loans will be repaid.Remember both thugs-Raila or Ruto will lead other crooks in EATING like kina Elizabeth,Muigai expired Kamau,Moi and Kibaki.

Remove tax on diesel and fertilizer so farmers can produce affordable food. Importation isn't the answer. Israel export food yet it's a desert. So technology in irrigation and water conservation and reuse is another trick. Stop land fragments and move people to cities by controlling abnormal land prices.
