President Ruto Assures Gov’t Will Not Interfere with Independent Institutions

President Ruto has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the rule of law, fidelity to the Constitutional, and due process, assuring that the Executive will not interfere with the work of independent institutions.

Ruto said the National Police Service, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Judiciary, and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission will be allowed to perform their duties independently and professionally while subjecting themselves to oversight by appropriate agencies.

“Most critically, under my administration, there shall be no interference with, or any attempts to control, direct or undermine independent institutions, including those in the justice, law and order sector. This is our vision for ensuring that the war on corruption is not itself corrupted by inappropriate interventions,” said Ruto.

The president stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration has already demonstrated its willingness to observe judicial independence by operationalizing the Judiciary Fund, which has allowed the Judiciary to invest in infrastructure and hire more judges.

“Effective deterrence of crime requires robust prosecution, while economic efficiency, investor confidence and competitiveness all depend on effective dispute resolution,” he said.

He said a well-resourced, independent, impartial and professional Judiciary is not only crucial for good governance, law and order, but also for financial sustainability, transactional effectiveness, and business competitiveness.

President Ruto spoke on Thursday during the 59th Mashujaa Day Celebrations at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

Haji is busy interfering with cases.

It’s clear William Ruto is the one interfering with the office of the DPP.
