Businessman Charged with Forging Title Deeds of Sh500 Million Land Belonging to Jimi Wanjigi

A businessman was on Wednesday charged with forging documents of parcels of land belonging to former presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi.

Sammy Njuguna appeared before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi of Milimani law courts where he pleaded not guilty to 18 counts of forgery.

Njuguna is accused of forging documents and articles of a memorandum that purported to have been issued by the Ministry of Lands and Registrar of Companies.

He is alleged to have committed the offenses on diverse dates between 2018 and 2019.

The parcels of land in question are located along General Mathenge Road in Nairobi and are valued at Sh500 million. The property belongs to Wanjigi, who has been enlisted as the key witness.

The prosecution also applied for the warrant of arrest against Njuguna’s accomplices David Njenga, Henry Njoroge, Anthony Maseno, Cissy Kalunde, Valentin Jelimo, Lawrence Njogu, Kepher Odhiambo and Martin Esakina.

As a result, the magistrate directed the eight accused persons to be arrested and arraigned.

The magistrate directed the matter to be mentioned on May 10th for purposes of consolidation with other accused persons who have already been charged.
