Bunge la Wananchi President Calvin Okoth (Gaucho)
Police are holding Raila's staunch supporter Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho for questioning.
Central Police Station OCPD Doris Kimeli said that the police wanted to clarify some issues with the Bunge la Wananchi President. The police have detained the vocal Raila supporter a day after he made demeaning remarks against leaders allied to President William Ruto during Jubilee National Delegates Convention held on Monday, at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei confirmed that Mr Okoth is being held for questioning at the Central Police Station. Mr Bungei informed that they are yet to communicate more about the matter. On Tuesday morning, Azimio la Umoja officials conveyed that Gaucho had been arrested at the Central Police Station.
"Calvin Okoth aka Gaucho has been arrested by officers from Nairobi Area (County Hqs) at the Central Police Station where he had gone to inquire about his phone which was confiscated when he was arrested some time back," said ODM Director of Communications.
The arrest comes after Azimio co-principal Martha Karua called out Gaucho for using scathing words against Sabina Chege. Karua urged leaders not to criticise others based on their physical appearance. She further called on leaders to display respect even if they differ.
