Former State House Comptroller Lawrence Lenayapa has passed away today at the age of 59.
He served in several key roles including State House Comptroller and Ambassador to the Netherlands, leaving a mark on the nation's diplomatic and administrative landscape. Born in Kargi, Laisamis, in 1964, Lenayapa embarked on a distinguished career. He began his diplomatic service in the Netherlands in 2018, later assuming the position of State House Comptroller under President Uhuru Kenyatta. During his time abroad, he represented Kenya at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and led delegations to other international organizations.
Before his diplomatic endeavours, Lenayapa served as State House Comptroller from 2013 to 2018, overseeing various aspects of the presidential residence's operations, encompassing transportation, security, communication, catering, and administration. His experience extended beyond the State House, as he previously held the position of District Commissioner in Baringo and Kiambu counties, and served as Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources. Lenayapa's influence extended beyond his administrative roles. In 2020, he garnered attention for a letter he penned to the International Criminal Court (ICC), expressing his disapproval of the proposed list of candidates for the prosecutor position.
