National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga says that he will lift the longstanding ban on traditional illicit liquor, popularly known as Chang’aa, and legalize its brewing and sale.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Sirisia, Bungoma County, on Friday the former Prime Minister said that, if elected the head of state in the upcoming polls, he will legalize the making of the brew.
The Orange Democratic Movement leader argued that no law that out rightly declares traditional brews as illegal exists, saying that he will allow Kenyans enjoy their favorite drink. “The government should allow their people to enjoy their favorite drinks,” Odinga said amid cheers from the crowd.
“The work of the police is to ensure the safety of Kenyans, not arresting those consuming Chang’aa,” he added.
The Jubilee government in the last four years embarked on a fierce campaign to fight brewing and sale of second generation brew, after it killed several people in different parts of the country.

Raila is a killer
To legalize changaa is to say he will build or give more acres of land to be used as kaburi
I just call him a killer as he witnessed himself how many peopme were dying and how many young people droped from school. To have this guy in power is just the same for him to drop his running mate Kalonzo and appoints maina njenga his running mate they kill Kenyans
Ndugu Raila, alcohol is alcohol - chang'aa or whisky. However, the locally made alcohol does not meet any national standard. I recommend that if you were to legalize our traditional alcohol, make sure that it is inspected in order to check the level of " proof" before it is distributed to our fellow wananchi!
This moron needs psychiatric help.Ojinga has no shame when it comes to deaths of innocent Kenyans because to him the end justifies his means - kill, kill, kill and those who don't die will vote for him.It is so sad that at this day and age we can cheer a political conman like Ojinga when he makes such stupid comments. We all heard what he said in Kajiado about Kikuyus,Kisii,Kalenjin and Meru people living harmoniously in the county. There are no two ways about this matter other than condemn Raila's inciting comments . I am more shocked by the massive silence from the media, who otherwise would shout themselves silly and to the top of their print and electronic lungs if this was done by one of the Jubilee leaders! The so-called human rights crusaders never raised a finger because it was 'their saint' who had called on the Masai to evict other tribes from Kajiado. As I said earlier on here, some of the largest community of foreigners in Kajiado are Kikuyus,Kisii,Kalenjin and Merus. It therefore follows that Raila should not waste his time cheating these communities that he cares for them in his many trips to their respective areas. Otherwise he should apologise to all the non-Masaai communities living in Kajiado and failure to do so get a punishment via no vote for Ojinga for taking us for granted.Ojinga can fool us sometimes but not all the time!
Ooh please shut the fck up ati we all heard what he said in kajiado....common sense or basis comprehension skills is lacking inside or outside of you.Yeah we all heard but that's not what he said....well sir,we don't need kikuyus in kajiado because we all know they have sick fetish for the livestockes
Wao! You legalize to kill more poor people who take it as that's all they can afford????? If I had power I would give it to your entire family to see the results before others are given to see what benefits you reap by legalizing it!!!! Then we can judge from there bwana RAO.
