24-Year-Old Student Set to be Youngest Kenyan MP

A 24-year-old Mount Kenya University student is poised to become the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) in the history of Kenyan elections.

Independent candidate John Mwirigi appears headed to clinch Igembe South MP seat if current results are anything to go by.

John Mwirigi, who has been carrying his campaigns on a 'black mamba' bicycle is so far leading in the legislator race with 18,986 votes against Jubilee candidate Joseph Miriti, who has 15,724.

Mwirigi is an orphan and lack of funds forced him to carry an aggressive door to door campaigns, to sell his agenda to the Igembe South residents.

"We decided to elect him. He had no money for campaigns but he offered good pledges and his manifesto was good," a resident told The Star.

I applaud the young man for the zeal he has shown to campaign with zero fundraising. Selling his tangible ideas to kenyans and they trusted him. For Kenya to move in the correct direction , shake all the corruption and and greed among civil servants and hold any corrupt individuals accountable of loting public funds and make them lose their jobs. No one should hold a public office when their reputation is questionable with regard to corruption or actions related to the matter.Fight for education for all and descent living standards for all kenyans. If we all cared about our fellow kenyans, brothers and the future of our children,Kenya would be different.

Am greatly inspired by the story of mwirigi. My desire to represent the people of Yatta has been re-ignited
