IEBC Chairman Sidelines CEO Ezra Chiloba in New Team to Conduct Repeat Election

Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba has once again been left out of a new project team unveiled by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati to preside over the October 26th repeat election.

In a new 7-member team, Chebukati also pushed aside two other IEBC officials.

Speaking at media briefing on Friday, Chebukati said that officials facing accusations of bungling the cancelled August 8th poll will not be part of the new team charged to oversee the fresh election.

Alongside Chiloba, Nancy Kariuki and Silas Rotich, who had been included in a previously announced project team to manage the new presidential election by commission chairman, Wafula Chebukati have been sidelined.

Those who have retained their status include Marjan Hussein Marjan and David Towett, who will head operations. Salome Oyugi will head the legal and compliance team, while Sydney Namulungu will be the head of tallying centres. Tabitha Mutemi will be in charge of the commission’s communication and outreach docket.

Albert Gogo has been retained as the head of ICT, while Agatha Wahome will handle finance and procurement.

IEBC Chairman Chebukati said the new changes are part of his pledge that the commission would effect major changes to poll officials ahead of the October election.

Last month, Chebukati had announced a six-member project team to oversee the repeat election, where Chiloba had also been sidelined.

I don't understand what's wrong with Luhya's. Is it a curse from the ancestors. Luhya's are mayopic in nature they don't see what's ahead or what's coming. This mulembe nation has been sidelined for along time and it is about time to vote as a block and support NASA just like kikuyu's have always voted for their own.statically any uhya who has been in power they end up poor and it is because of stupidy they have.First central province is rich in everything and for many years. It is unbelievable to see people like Marende,Namwamba,The most stupid of all Eugine and now jirongo and Akaranga after losing election they joined jubilee to kiss uhuruto ass instead of sticking together with RAO to remove uhuruto from power and bring wealth to western province and Nyanza province.Luhya leaders please wake up it is never to late.Stop being used by jubillee and stand firm with Mudavadi and Angwambo after all what's the difference between kisumu and Kakamega. It is ignominious and shameful to see leaders like A babu Mamwamba campaigning in kiambu for uhuruto far away from home ingo.Namwamba God will never forgive you and Eugine for being traitors and moles betraying mulembe Nation. It is sad.

@Okulaulanga - so you want the luhyas to vote kama kodoo .. maybe this will change their status in society - currently the best luhyas can do is become watchmen (aka soldier) , maids ( aka mboch) and casual labourers. They provide these services very well to kikuyu owned businesses - the best jaruos can do is destroy the businesses by throwing stones and looting. Jaruo ni bure kabisa and should all be circumcised by force to get them to grow up and stop uhii

Queen of tribalism right there. Thought yesterday you talked of all tribes coming together. The day before you castigated tribalists. Where do you stand, make up your mind Guest 1 aka Akinyi. Talking of thieving, who are doing it in Kisumu with those stupid demos again. Would a Mwangi or Maina do business, bring jobs in Kisumu? Nay, unless they are out of their freaking minds. By the way Kikuyus work day and by night they are strategizing. Uhuru does NOT own your brain, for heavens sake use it there is nothing for free in this world unless you want to be used by others. Having a president from your tribe does NOT, okay, does NOT bring food to your table at the end of the day. Lets quit the shallow thinking.

@mugi, I was suffering in silence...thanx for getting polite words to address @guest1, he/ she of shallowest mind, worst tribalist calling others tribal and the poster child of all myopic reasoning.... Why would anyone, old enough to be contributing in Mwakilishi think that if a president came from his/her tribe their social/economic status would change?..ok, I understand name-dropping could be quite something, socially..am told...but with all seriousness, @Guest1, how many kyuks do you know that have benefited, personally, from UK being president? You are well set-up for disappointment when one of your tribesmen becomes a president... I tell you.

Despite Moi strategies of encouraging cheap cheap changaa among the Kikuyu men, grabbing the Mt Kenya land for Nyayo tea zones that failed and taking alot of money from tea and coffee growers. kikuyus have continued to thrive. You can call them names but they are hard workers. If you are a christian which you CLAIM you are, you would quit the bullshit. Stop hating.

Looks like Cheb is playing a very cheeky game. One cannot be the same thing to all the people, all the time, without blowing your cover. Are these sweeping powers supported by policies? Hi kuyumba yumba haistahili mwenyekiti!

Chebs cannot be trusted. As soon as his fishy agenda is determined, legal checkmate will be taken to circumvent his agenda. Chiloba must work.
