Former Kiambu Governor Kabogo Denies Speaking against DP Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has reacted to reports by a local newspaper claiming that he spoke against Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

In an article last week, the publication quoted the former governor warning Deputy President Ruto that Mt Kenya region will not be forced to vote for him come 2022, stating that voters from the region are not wheelbarrows.

"We are not political wheelbarrows to be pushed right, left and centre by anyone,” the paper quoted Kabogo while speaking to Thika residents. Taking to Twitter, Kabogo denied making such statements and has threatened to sue the paper for defamation.

"People STOP! Talking bad about the DP and saying it’s Kabogo. When I want to say something I do it myself. Shame on you.” ”What do you get for defaming me? See you in court,” he said, adding that the said daily only used his name to make more sales.

”They think that useless paper will sell more if it has a story on Kabogo. Kabogo is a BRAND.”

He further alleged that the reports on the said paper are sponsored by individuals who feel he is a threat to them: "This must be sponsored by those who think I’m compee, they mess my name to increase their chances without shame. I’m good folks.”

Kenyan politics should not be defined by ethnicity. Kenya is still suffering with poverty amongst the ordinary people.
Why do leaders engaged in election politics continuously. Once elections are over it should be to business of serving people.
