Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Begins Preparations for 2022 Presidential Bid

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has began preparations to succeed President Kenyatta in the 2022 general elections.

Leaders elected and nominated through his Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party will on Saturday converge for a meeting to lay out strategies ahead of the 2022 polls.

The meeting will be held at the party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi and will be presided over by Mutua. ”We shall take stock of the last elections and strategise for 2022 to win the presidency,” said Mutua.

Mutua, who was re-elected as Machakos governor has already declared his interest in occupying State House after President Uhuru.

In the last elections, his party scooped the Mwala, Baringo Central, Lamu East parliamentary seats as well as Tana River Woman Representative seat. It also has more than 50 elected Members of County Assembly across the country.

”We will also draw a work plan to roll out party activities and plans to traverse the country to popularise my presidential bid,” said Mutua.

Deputy President William Ruto, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetang'ula of Ford Kenya and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are other top leaders who have set their eyes of the country's top seat in 2022.
