Matiang'i Reveals How Gov't Prevented a Mass Massacre of Supporters Organized by NASA with the Help of Media

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has explained how the government prevented a mass massacre planned by National Super Alliance (Nasa) during the swearing-in of its leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during a press briefing on the state of security in the country in Nairobi on Wednesday, the CS said that the decision to withdraw security officers from Uhuru Park grounds on Tuesday morning prevented the opposition from executing the plan.

Matiang'i said there was a "well-choreographed attempt to subvert or overthrow the legally constitutional government of Kenya".

"A massacre or catastrophe was going to happen there," Matiang'i told the press on Wednesday.

He said the plot was to place certain individuals to massacre supporters and then blame it on police.

"The investigations will extend to co-conspirators and facilitators. Upon completion of these investigations, appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law."

"Law agencies are working ... we will bring individuals to book .. we will arrest them ... we will govern according to the law. We will deal with crime," he said.

"NRM is a criminal organisation, not a political party, that is bent on mayhem and anarchy."

The CS further said that they had information that some media houses were involved in the planned massacre, and hence the reason for the media shutdown.

"We were aware of some elements in the media who participated in the furtherance of this illegal act," he said.

"Their complicity would have led to thousands of deaths of innocent Kenyans due to the buildup of the incitement that was witnessed in early hours."

He explained that media owners were given a full security brief ahead of the opposition "illegal activities", but chose to ignore it.

"Unfortunately, some media houses chose to disregard this advice, their own code of ethics, self regulation and the moral responsibility of every Kenyan to safeguard the security of there fellow citizens."

"As a result of what happened yesterday, we have commenced investigations targeting individuals," he said. "Media houses will remain closed until we complete investigations."

I believed there would be many deaths due to police activity. Great decision Matiangi! Attendees were duped by their leaders and they do not need to pay the ultimate price for these selfish politicians. I keep saying: if these leaders believe in their causes, then let them have their children at the front lines of demonstrations. But would they do that? No, they want other peoples’ children to be killed and not their own.

Jubilee got Word that: NASA Police was READY to Slaughter the Jubilee Police Mafia (like it Slaughtered Jubilee Police Mafia and their Supporters) that day "Raila arrived at JKA". The People's President is ready to Counter Jubilee Crap. And if Matiang'i does NOT tread Carefully: Jubilee will NKAISSERY him too.

Let me get this straight::
1. There was a plan to kill people.
Police response is::
2.Kenya police decide to withdraw because they don't want to spoil their "Reputation".

So basically, Kenyans were on there own with the killers.

Okay OOOO!I see.Government my foot.

Congratulations to President Raila Amolo Odinga.Kenyans support you 100%

@Guest1: Why don’t you go and join your brother David Ndii and be inaugurated to the first NRM female General. After you join NRM as a female General, we only need one more from Murang’a since you will represent Nyeri, and David Ndii will represent Kiambu. Wacha Upuzi; Hopefully Doreen if from Muranga.

Doreen... No... The police presence was going to be used as an excuse to kill people then blame it on the police.. Since they were not there, they couldn't be blamed so they didn't proceed with that plan

I believe Matiangi. Kalonzo's first interview outside his house as his security was seen to be leaving his compound gave a lot away. He was specific that the removal of the Police was a tactic. The reporter then asked him to reassure his supporters that he would be sworn in and again was clear that is not what he was saying and that they were still in talks. He was seen to drive off after this and the reporters attempt to trail him was blocked in the manner Kalonzo's camp was driving until they lost him. At what point was he house arrested? Inasikitisha sana that these guys can lie with a straight face!
