Kenyan Comedian 'David the Student' Responds to Allegations of Swindling Kenyans in the US

Kenyan comedian 'David The Student' born David Kangogo has responded to accusations of conning Kenyans in the United States.

In a statement, the entertainer admitted to borrowing cash from Kenyans in the diaspora and apologized for not refunding.

His response comes after reports claiming that the former Churchill Show comedian swindled several Kenyans living in the US.

He allegedly claimed his father was suffering from cancer while soliciting for the cash. However, the comedian denied ever claiming that his dad was battling the disease.

“Hello, I have spent time reading this, and some of it is true(the borrowing of Money) But I have never told  anyone my Dad has cancer. Coming here(America) made me realize life here ain't what we see and think there’s a dollar tree falling and people catch…being here for a couple of months had made me appreciate the hard work most of you guys (Kenyans in America) work so Hard to take care of your families and to live the American Dream. I apologies to anybody and everyone those I borrowed and those who lent me and I’ve not refunded. I take full responsibility and I am ashamed,” reads part of David the Student's apology according to Pulselive.co.ke.

“Not that some will care about the truth is there’s is so much pressure being on TV to live a certain life, but in real sense this shit is crazy. I am not anyway defending my actions .,. I am taking full responsibility of some of the accusations.. and from the bottom of my heart I am sorry” added David.

Steven Mbugua, a Kenyan promoter living in the US, said he organized shows for David in the US after he was referred to him by Starehe MP Charles Njagua (Jaguar), but he cut links with the comedian after receiving numerous complains that he had conned people.

David the Student. What did you tell people when you were borrowing the money? You must have given a huge reason so that people can part with their hard earned money.

My concern is that David is in a relationship with someone I care a lot about and nothing states that he repaid those he swindled. Also, why didn’t anyone press charges?
