President Uhuru Kenyattta has defended his family's wealth, noting that the fortune was legitimately acquired. In an interview BBC’s Hard Talk host Zeinab Badawi during his just-concluded visit to the United States, Kenyatta said his family's wealth is public information and that he declares his net worth every year.
“What we own what we have is open to the public as a public servant. I am supposed to make my wealth known and we declare every year, and I have always said, if their is an instance where somebody can say that what we have done or obtained has not been legitimate, say so, we are ready to face any court.” President Kenyatta told Zeinab.
The Head of State further said he and his family are ready to take a lifestyle audit even if it's backdated to his great-grandfather. He said he's committed to leaving a legacy by slaying graft.
“This is something I am committed to and something I am determined to leave as my legacy in this country,” he added.
“As a government an as an individual, I am committed to this fight. As you’ve seen over the last few months, cases are now being finalized a lot faster. We are looking forward for our courts to do their part.”
Asked if the ‘big fish’ will be spared in the crackdown, Kenyatta responded; “You’ve already heard about them being presented before courts of law, what is remaining now is for our independent Judiciary to do their work and bring Justice to the people of Kenya.”

It's as if Uhunye's Ancestors owned the Taita-Taveta land before Taita-Tavetans owned it. Hogwash!
I am a Kenyan and thank God, Uhuru Kenyatta is not my president.
Pathological liar.
Correct; and well said Diana. In fact PATHOLOGICAL liars Lie until they begin Believing their own Lies to the T. And Uhunye is a Very good Example.
Gotta respect that from an African leader. Anytime a leader thinks of his legacy, it’s a good sign. Hope it’s not empty rhetoric.
Lets give the big fish amnesty. They should return the illgotten wealth within acertain period without penalty. But if they chose to fight it out and lose, they will face jail term plus forfeit their wealth. It would be stupid for a big corrupt fish to chose the later. Its stolen public money we are talking here.
As far as ican tell there is commotion and it remains to be seen if any big wheel will sink.Right now they are sitting tight with their top notch lawyers kenya can offer, hopping to weather the storm, and keep the looted assets.Uhurus past or current status withstanding, lets support him in rooting out this public menace-corruption.He said no fat cats will ve spared.Lets hold him to his words.
Late Kenyatta imposed fear to acquire his wealth. Nobody would question him because fear of unknown.
"Mzee kamau wa Ngengi (Jomo Kenyatta) alinyakua ardhi kubwa sana kwa pupa hata waliopigania uhuru wakakosa hata mahali pa kupanda kitunguu!" Yep! That's why (to me) this Uhunye scores Big in PATHOLOGICAL lying.
Kimũndũ gĩkĩ ndungu kĩa Jomo ni kĩa Maheni. No wonder Ithe wake yari MUICI #1. Oh My!
Ndugu @Guest1
Sielewi maana ya neno, "Uhunye." Naomba Ndugu unipe kiini chake.
Uhuru answer this : where did your father get all the money to buy big shanks of land in Taita Taveta, Nairobi , Nakuru , Mombasa etc.
He had just come from UK was in Kapenguria , his father died at an early age . Where in the hell did Kenyatta get all the money ( lottery?)
JM Kariuki died for seeking equality and fairness in distribution of Land
Where did Kenyatta Jomo get money to buy all the land and property soon after independence . He did not inherit . Uhuru cannot be held accountable but Uhuru can decide to personaly do something for the homeless and landless.

PR gommicks and lies from the wonder boy. Tusker kila saa.
"legitimately acquired" what about the well rampant acquisition by Mr. Kenyatta, his family and his coterie of large and valuable farms in a land that left a hungry nation? What about an open attempt by Mr. Kenyatta's fourth wife, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, and her associates to seize a valuable ruby mine, prospected by two American geologists, ‐by engineering the destruction of public records and the deportation of the owners? what about the dominance, of the “royal family” in such ostensibly illegal practices as trade in charcoal and ivory etc. How about the fact that all Kenyatta's families have top jobs in the government and most government tenders? How legit is that? It's not an open play field my any means. Uwizi ni uwizi.
