President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga are scheduled to receive a top award in the United Kingdom in recognition of their famous March 9th handshake.
The two will be feted at this year’s London Political Summit over the unity pact that lowered political temperatures in the country following last year's acrimonious presidential contest.
Kenyatta and Odinga will receive the “Black History Month”, African Peace Award 2018 during the two-day event to be held on October 18th and 19th at the British House of Parliament, Westminster House in London.
The summit says Kenyatta and Odinga will be honored for portraying “historic, political sportsmanship and adherence to the principle of political tolerance.”
“This year’s summit would be a unique one, as it offers us an opportunity for the first time, to honour two great sons and esteemed leaders of African politics at the summit. These two great men themselves have a long rich history behind them, as their both parents were the founding fathers of Kenyan political and democratic history."
“It is a great privilege to identify with these two great men of honour, Rt Hon Uhuru Kenyatta, and Rt Hon Raila Odinga, for their historic, political sportsmanship and adherence to the principle of political tolerance with the, ‘Peace Accord Handshake’ to end ethnic antagonism and mischievous political competition, public corruption and lack of national ethos, in the history of Kenya politics and democracy,” says the summit.
“Black History Month” is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in United States history.
In a letter of invitation sent to Odinga, the Summit Director, Godson Azu says: “We celebrate you as a key outstanding personality who has embedded peace and cooperation, safe and progressive governance, in one of Africa’s developing democracy, and among nations around the world."
“The 3 Annual London Political Summit would like to honour you with a special award as African Political Leader of the Year 2018 which will be held on October 18 and 19 in UK Houses Of Parliament.”
The summit is attended by political leaders and senior government officials, non-State actors, political commentators and analysts, civil Societies and NGOs from across the globe.

KumangaManga, Kudanganyana, na Kutumiana are the Keys here. Politics ni Umalaya kweli.
Hahahhah! Go receive your tokens for your masters.
Raila needs to STOP this Kiambu Mafia lobbyists' Nonsense made to Hoodwink, Bamboozle, and making a Fool of him. Instead he needs to have Better things to Do or be Honored for.
What is contained in this " infamous handshake". Kenya's should be very suspicious of a "Handshake" that is so secretive to the Kenyans but that the colonizer is holding so dearly and even is in a position to give an award for.
Is this an attempt to create a Dynasty in our country?
It is very sad that since independence this two families have ruled Kenya and all we have learned is colonizers history. How can a whole person's history (Black man) be one month in twelve months. What history does a black man learn in the other 11 months? Shouldn't the black man learn his own history every day of the year?. "Black history month" is reserved for African Americans and their achievements. Raila and Uhuru are not African Americans. No wonder African are not given respect. Let our leaders be honored by the people they serve as servants not by the colonizers as celebrities in a twisted manner.
And who are the attendants, the group's which have given Kenya most problems; the NGO's and Civil Societies (uncivil and evil societies). God give us leaders not politicians. God help Kenya!!!
Leaders Must first be accepted in their home country hope Kenyan elders from all tribes did appreciate and crown them be4 the colonial masters do..sasa tax payers ndio wanalipia hizo trip if they visit to get their award? or personal capacity?? pay individually?
What a joke making a mockery of democracy glorifying two egotistical corrupt thieves
