Tax Evaders: President Uhuru Orders Lifestyle Audit on Wealthy Kenyans

President Kenyatta has ordered a lifestyle audit on wealthy Kenyans who under-report their income in order to avoid paying taxes.

While warning that no one will be spared, Kenyatta says those found to have been evading tax will face the full force of the law.

“High net-worth individuals whose lifestyles are not reflective of the taxes they pay, if any, must be compelled to demonstrate the source of their wealth and contribute their share of tax accordingly…,” warns President Kenyatta.

The President has also urged Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to employ cutting-edge technology in its operations.

“Traders operating fake electronic tax registers and pocketing the VAT should also be brought to book. The law must reflect the seriousness of tax collection and the consequences of default,”says Kenyatta.

“There should be no space for tax evaders in Kenya.”

He has further assured that the government will pursue KRA officials who use their positions to evade taxes or help taxpayers to skip their obligation.

The taxman netted Sh329 billion in the first quarter ended September 2018, an increase from the Sh317.4 billion collected during the same period last year. KRA however missed the collection target for the quarter by Sh92.7 billion.

Start with those who are donating millions to churches every Sunday as if they were Bill Gates with only one month to live. As for the church leaders who are accepting these millions without asking about the source, Bwana asifiwe sana.

Uhuru, good idea! Start with yourself and family then to your deputy who moves with sacks of cash to buy goats. Proceed on to the looters, drug dealers and fake pastors and by the time you get done, SGR will be paid for.

Uhuru before we go to the common mwananchi, how much have you recovered from Mwilu, Kindero and the like? How many corruption court cases have been solved or completed or do we give everyone bail and then the cases disappear? Let's recover some as an example (baby steps) and then proceed.

I am concerned about every Kenyan who voted, we voted for leaders whom we thought were Kenyan loving citizens and not resources drainer for poor Kenyans. This are the people we thought would make Kenya a great country!. We are ashamed and they must know that we are all rewarded with wisdom to know what is happening, our hearts bleeds for all those going without food, luck of jobs, instead of resources been taken care to help in technical education, business loans, educate the poor children they just want others see them driving expensive cars, living in big houses sorround ed with body guides and not even able to see the hungry dying mwananchi. Can this guys start recognizing the poor citizens neighbors and count how much resources they have drained and help this poor guys instead of bulding thousands hotels and buying millions land of acres
