When I was growing up, church was mostly a Sunday only affair. Churches have now spread their tentacles far and wide to increase the frequency of the services to everyday of the week - breakfast, lunch and evening services. With liberalization, anyone can start a church. At Uthiru roundabout, I counted at least 8 churches in the space of less than one acre. Churches are increasingly involved in our daily lives - circumcision, premarital and marital counselling, marriage, graduation ceremonies etc all for a fee. Most of the churches become properties of individuals who strongly resist any attempts of independent audit, JCC included. I know this one preacher from my village who travels to Kenya at least five time a year. All his expenses are paid for by his church in the USA. He has an extensive real estate portfolio. Watu wengi hawaelewi kuwa kitabu cha biblia ni kitabu kilichoandikwa juu ya falsafa (philosophy) ya Wayahudi, imani yao, na pia mila zao. Hata Wayahudi wenyewe sasa wameshabadilisha tabia zao.

Katika mila zao, kitu chochote cha kwanza chenye uhai kiliuawa kama sadaka kwa mungu wao. Ndama (calf) wa kwanza wa ngomb'e wako aliuawa, mtoto wako wa kwanza aliuawa. Kila kitu chochote cha kwanza kiliuawa kama sadaka kwa mungu wao.
