Evelyn Wanjiku Kadenge - Daughter of Kenyan Legendary Footballer Joe Kadenge - Passes Away in the US, Dad Suffers Stroke

Kenyan legendary footballer Joe Kadenge's daughter Evelyn Wanjiku Kadenge Hoskin has passed away in the United States.

Ms. Kadenge allegedly succumbed to a stroke on February 9th, 2019 in Aurora, Colorado.

She leaves behind two children; a son Zuri Hoskin, 17, and daughter Nuru Hoskin, 14.

On Wednesday evening, her father was rushed to Nairobi Hospital after reportedly suffering a stroke for the second time in the last 10 years.

His son Rodgers Kadenge says his dad is not able to communicate but doctors are attending to him at the facility's High Dependency Unit (HDU).

“I’ve just left the hospital; mzee is not able to talk, since yesterday. Doctors said it is a stroke that we think has come as a result of his daughter’s demise on Sunday. He started to change gradually after learning of Evelyn’s death and the situation got worse on Wednesday when we decided to take him to the hospital,” Rodgers says.

Rodgers says Evelyn, who was married in the US, will be laid to rest on February 18th.

“People are already making arrangements to travel (to the US) for Evelyn's burial. Mzee cannot of course travel with his condition now, and I think it affects him,” adds Rodgers.

Kadenge, 83, has been unwell for a couple of times in the last two years, prompting visitation by Kenyan leaders including President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Pole sana Rogers for the tragedy or losing your sister and for your dad's illness. Even then, I am reminded of our fond youth soccer games in Mariakani South B Estate in the late seventies. Stay strong my brother.
