Canada Has Issued over 78900 Invitations to Apply for Permanent Residence So Far in 2019 through the Express Entry Program

The government of Canada has so far this year issued 78,900 invitations to apply for permanent residence in 2019 through the Express Entry program. This is after the government issued 3,600 invitations to apply (ITAs) in the latest draw held on Wednesday, November 27th.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for the November 27th draw was 471. The score is based on factors such as the applicant’s age, education, skills level, work experience, proficiency in English or French, and family ties to Canada.

A job offer in Canada is not required to qualify to participate in Express Entry program, but additional points are  awarded to those with job offers.

In order to qualify for the Express Entry pool, candidates must first meet the eligibility requirements for one of Canada’s three Federal High Skilled Economic-class immigration categories - the Federal Killed Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

The best candidates are selected from a pool of entrants, through a drawing held about every two weeks. Those selected are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which gives them a go-ahead to apply for permanent residence along with their qualifying relatives - spouses and dependent children.

In 2018, Canada issued a record 89,800 ITAs. The target for 2019 is 81,400 ITAs.
