Joho Hires Lavish Private Jet to Visit Ailing Raila in Dubai

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has flown to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to visit ailing ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Joho left the country aboard a private jet on Thursday in the company of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed. He tweeted photos showing him and Junet at the airport and inside the luxurious Airbus A318 private jet.

“Off to Dubai with Junet Mohamed to see Baba,” Governor Joho captioned the images.

Raila recently underwent a corrective nerve surgery at a top German hospital in Dubai, according to his family.

“He is in the United Arab Emirates-Dubai based International Hospital run by Germans. He has been successfully treated of a mild nerve disorder affecting one leg and not what has been alleged,” Raila’s wife Ida Odinga told Daily Nation.

“You know that currently there are no commercial flights. This means that if he is to come back, we have to charter a plane. But that process will be kicked off once he fully recovers.”

In a one-minute video shared online last week, Raila said he was doing well after the surgical operation and was looking forward to coming back home.

“I’m feeling great, I feel strong and rejuvenated and it feels good to be out of town breathing fresh air, I want to thank all my friends, supporters and youth, and everyone who has sent me messages, it feels good and makes one recover faster,” Raila said.

The people of his constituencies feel he is surving them well, when he spends such large amounts to visit a friend while his people are struggling under poverty and COVID-19 related challenges.
