41 Workers at Pumwani Maternity Hospital Infected with Covid-19

The Health Ministry has announced 41 more Pumwani Maternity Hospital workers have been infected with Covid-19.
Health director-general Dr. Patrick Amoth on Tuesday said the 41 cases were detected after 290 employees attached to the health facility took Covid-19 tests.
He added that all the 41 patients were placed under home-based medical care since they are asymptomatic and two have since recovered.
“The remaining 39 are doing well. Nobody has gone to a hospital for care and we are hopeful they will be able to pull through without developing any symptoms of COVID,” said Dr. Amoth.
100 other employees at the country’s largest maternity hospital are yet to undergo Covid-19 testing, Amoth said.
Amoth further noted that the discovery of the cases has not affected the delivery of services at the hospital and appropriate measures have been put in place to protect workers and patients visiting the health center.
Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) through its Nairobi chairperson Boaz Onchari on Monday confirmed 15 nurses were among workers infected with the virus at Pumwani.
