Meet Dr. Joe Karogi, Who Helps Kenyan Migrants Settle Down in the US

31 years ago, Dr. Joe Karogi embarked on a journey to help Kenyans relocating to the US to transition, and has never looked back.
Karogi, a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, has lived in the US for 35 years and admits life there is not for the faint-hearted. Dr. Karogi holds a doctorate in Counselling (mental wellness and addiction). He also holds a degree in theology. The father of two is married to Dr. Mary Karogi, a high school teacher.
With the help of his wife and other stakeholders, Karogi founded Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA), an organization that helps Kenyans moving to the US to settle down and deal with issues such as culture shock. “I saw it wise to have a way we as Kenyans who moved to the US years back to help other Kenyans moving to the US to get a soft landing whenever they come here because life and culture in the US is different from that in Kenya,” Karogi said during a recent interview on Metha ya Kagoni YouTube show.
“The real hustling is in the US and I am saying that with a lot of respect. As much we see TV Coming to America, it is a real struggle. I have seen people who won Green Cards and they end up returning home because life is very hard,” he added.
KCFA, which was founded in 1990 in Birmingham, Alabama, currently has 27 chapters spread across the US states.
In 2019, KCFA acquired a 75-acre parcel of land in Norlina town, North Carolina where it plans to build its offices and an international conferencing facility that will serve as a revenue stream for the organization.

FYI@Guest, have a closer look at the work of this man - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y00iFa830t0. No signs of Henna nor falsified teeth huh? He gives counselling, so give him a ring for some distorted perceptions CBT therapy. That may open your mind up beyond physical looks. Good luck.

@ Sukari Ichecked the link, and initially the lingo threw me off base alittle, but Ikept on listening, and true to what you saidis right he is a counselor .But I believe your main point was to show that this fellow is not toothless, that is for those shallow minded people who make it a big deal. Let's judge the man by what he does for society or humanity at large. I dont see any difference between laughing at a person without teeth,as opposed to someone without legs.Even if we know what cause it,there is no room for making fun of it at all. These bodies shall at one time be useless whether with full parts of parts missing.Let focus on what makes us good human beings.

What is really with our boys today? @guest, why are you insulting a man your father’s age! I don’t understand this boy called guest! I hope people forgive me but I want to say one thing. Boys like @guest need real men’s work done to them! He lacks respect and dignity to himself and others! I don’t even think my 2x4 piece of wood across his face will rekebisha his juvenile problems! @guest, call the Doctor and personally apologize to him fir being silly! That is all I have to tell you!

@Guest...of all the things to take from above clip, is his physical appearance the only thing you could dissect? So what if that is henna (any fool can see it is the lighting) or that he may not have lower teeth (again it is the lighting and blurring)? Every time we have some positive energy shinning through our communities, we have some haters/snippers waiting on the side line to bring one down. Grow up and give some respect. This man has lived and is now giving back. Many of our people have not managed to do this and God knows we have lost many these past months. It is a privilege to live to a ripe old age with no hair, teeth or whatever else withers. You are not judging, you are hating. Heshima sio utumwa.

The luo cna @ceneca from Massachusetts has now come out of the wood works to dispute the work of this man because he is a kikuyu from Rari!
@ceneca and your brother @guest, both of you never disappoint when it comes to a kikuyu accomplish something in America! You are just some bonafide tribalist.
But remember @ceneca, it is the Kikuyus from central Kenya and in the Rift Valkey that are sending foods, meat and milk plus honey to feed your hungry people in kisumu town and the whole of Nyaza! That is a fact you can’t hide!
You can hate Kikuyus all you want but you can never survive without them! We can’t marry you because you so damn ugly and we love women with pretty face!
And for you information, you know something - Raila will never be president without the kikuyu vote!
@ceneca, your immaturity is far beyond pale! Ethikanye omela you fool!

I would rather have a thief than a perpetual beggars like most Luo. Your lazy tribe has less than 2 million votes. The larger kikuyu group has over 6 million votes! There will not be a Raila presidency without the special group called the Kikuyus. We have never needed your luo folks for anything, for nearly sixty years! We do not need you now! You are a sick puppy!

The Kikuyus are the back born of Kenya! We make Kenya move wherever we are in this world!

In the old days, we used to discipline folks like @guest by putting them in a round bee hive and just rolling them down the cliff such as kirurumo Kia Nyahururu!
They learned good manners if they did not die in the process! But other stupid folks learned something from those rolled down the cliff to never insult the elders!
I hate the new family setting where boys are carrying women last names. You will find out that this @guest has a woman last name like @guest wa Njoki! I surely respect our women! But the presence of a man in the house makes a huge difference!
So @guest never became a man because he never had an experience with a man in the house! So, it is what it is!!

Least of all respect the elders. His is a better clergy man doing good .What do others do is to build wealth like the world mansions, paid vacations with their spouses , big cars , plots ,professional salary instead of doing humanitarian work like the doctor.Let us think of those in jail, human trafficking victims they need help including ex - convictions to find work. Those being deported, Covid 19 survivors left by loved ones etc.

Heard of KCFA a while back, but never attended the conferences. Didnt know they had moved on to selling plots. The 75 acre purchase for conference space raised my eyebrow too, but if its to finance their ops, guess they deserve it. As a Dr. am sure the guy has made his 6 figure salaries annually and is comfortable, so if he helps the new ones, thats good for all. Right? I too am keen on helping refugees especially from East Africa. Its a rewarding experience to assist one mkae it.

Your luo sacking attitude tells it all the reasons kikuyus have always taken a brunt panga to circumcise your guys without water from River Mathioya!
I’m beginning to wonder where Uhuru is taking us with Raila! You don’t give power to arrogant and lazy people. I also don’t think Ruto is the answer for 2022 - he is a crooked thief!
