Mzee Richard Mbeche of Kingsville, Missouri rested on September 12, 2021 at St Luke’s Hospital Lee Summit MO after a short illness bravely borne.

Mzee Richard's family just relocated to the US three months ago. They are still very new to navigate through this and as a community we are rallying behind the family during this difficult time.

Friends, relatives, and the greater Kenyan US/Kansas City community are coming together to help offset the cost of taking the body to Kenya for burial.

Whatever God has bellied you with please send to the treasurers below:

Poleni sana for your loss. But,if the family just moved here, why send the body back home?

We as a people should change some of our cultural practices and traditions. I will say again, we are burying alot of resources and in a way depriving future generations.

@Tuonembele..I agree. Pole to the family, lakini I always wonder why a retiree would opt to come to the West? Not a place for the elderly used to our way of living.

Sukari and the rest of you, as much as you have a point, it is always wise to try and understand the context. Mzee did not come here as a retiree. He has been here for a long time. Had a life, and was able to take care of his own. Not everyone here is going to retire and go back home. For one reason or another, not every Kenyan in the diaspora will be able to retire and go back to Kenya, and at times even if you have the intention of doing so, you have no control over life.

At this point, your responsibility is to either come out and help, or avoid castigating. I am not a vocal online type, but kindly, show respect and watch what you say as the prevailing circumstance is an unexpected visitor to all of us.

@ Sukari, I dont see why someone would take offense to what you stated.Granted that people of all ages come to USA for various reasons, its had to fully comment on an individual situation, unless one knows or has more information than what's printed. See the comment bellow@ Kenya.
Iam sure you are aware that I my self being afrequent commentator on this forum,I am no stranger to insults, and attacks. Most if not all are usually as a result of misinterpretation, and or missundestanding. In no way would I come here to insult someone,or for that matter any where. That's not my constitution. I always hope for an intellectual and scholarly exchange of ideas, and non insulting comments.
I think your response was humbly spot on.

Poleni. But was it wise for him to go to the states? I understand people have their own reasons but it's better in Kenya to the life he was used to and enjoy retirement.

Poleni sana @Arap Moi, you took words out of my mouth. It is not wise for somebody of his age to immigrate to USA if you do not have your children here.

It would be good to know the dynamics of each individual rather than throwing stones aimlessly.

Corrections Guys! Mzee has been in the US for approximately 17yrs and he passed away last Sunday.
The son relocated to the US 3months ago only for his father to pass away.We just need to help the son take the remains home to Kenya.
Prayers and financial are welcomed.

To the family of Mzee Mbeche, may you find comfort in God's word at Daniel 12:2 that 'many asleep in the dust of the earth will wake up...'
May God give you strength to endure your loss.

Why can’t they be buried here in US?
Why take them back to Kenya?
