Kidero to Vie for Homa Bay Governor’s Seat as an Independent Candidate

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has announced he will vie for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.

This is after ODM issued Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga with a nomination certificate to contest for the seat in the forthcoming elections after all seven aspirants eyeing the party’s ticket stepped down and endorsed her candidature.

Citing numerous calls from Homa Bay residents to run for the county’s top seat, Kidero, who was seeking the ODM party ticket, says he will not drop his bid.

“In response to your cries for better governance and restoration of your sovereign jurisdiction, I will offer myself as an independent candidate for the position of Homa Bay County Governor,” Kidero said in a statement.

“I am overwhelmed by your unconditional support. I will be on the ballot on August 9th, 2022.  Take my word - I will not let you down!”

On Friday, Kidero denied being part of a meeting that saw Wanga handed the ODM ticket through consensus.

“I was not invited to the meeting and I am not in agreement. In consensus, everybody must agree. I will be exploring alternative avenues to run as a Governor,” he said.

Kidero, nonetheless, reiterated his support for the ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

“I am not fighting Odinga. My aspiration has been motivated by the people who want me to transform the economy of this county,” he added.

My thoughts too. He may end up elected because ordinary Kenyans loves thieves. He will buy the votes just like the known national thief WSR is trying to do with all the money he stole from the poor. That is the strangest irony you can ever imagine.

@Yusuf,I go one step further and say, he should not run for any political office before he reserves his term in prison for corruption. In other words after paying his debt to society. It is very shameful that these thieves have the temerity to throw their names in the hat and contest for any public office while a cloud of crimes hang over them. We the people should not allow this.

@maxiley - even your good friend Sonko is planning to run for a governor of Kakamega. He says he will square out with Malala hands down. It is the fear of Sonko that cause Khalwale to quit the race. But the funny thing about all that is Khalwale went to eat bread scrams under Ruto’s kitchen table. How does Boni run away from one small thief only to end up in Ruto’s big tent of UDAku thieves? Can you explain that @maxiley??

How can Kindero be running for a governor’s seat while he still has pending corruption cases from the money he stole from Nairobi county. The IEBC has really failed Kenyans under Chebukati. He should be barred from running for any office. Corruption in kenya has really morphed into various realms.

Chebukati is clueless. He just looks like a fat dummy. He is extremely incapable to manage IEBC. What is that pretty sissie called that ran away to Ethiopia in 2017? Maybe she can do a better job if only she stop betraying women, children and little girls. That was shameful for whatamacallit to run away.

I think the reason kidero was not invited to the meeting is because they didn’t want to deal with a thief. Kidero is a very disgraced man and should be ashamed of himself.

Is there any politician thief that has shame? You can name them to the end of the world and the list of shame will still continue. And I am talking from DP Ruto to the littlest new MCA in Lamu.

The problem is with the voters who they vote for ‘mtu wetu’ while they know for sure that idiot is a typical thief. Now look at what we got at the the national level. Is Ruto a person to running for the presidency of the Republic of Kenya well knowing he is the greatest thief in Africa?

And now that Ruto traded his daughter to the Nigerian conman, Kenya will be infested with Kenyan and Nigerian thieves if Ruto by some unfortunate chance becomes the next president.

It’s about time Kenyans began to reject these conmen and conwomen!

Kidero has a right to vie for the said seat.
The issue here is WANGA was given a free ticket. I believe there are many who would have liked to vie for this seat, but it seems like ODM doesn't know what Democracy means.
As KENYANS we need to reject any hand picked candidates from any political party.
RAILA should have shown us this by actions, but it seems like ODM is a family affair, some saying that they will have easy access to state house, while others will be married there and others will be ears and eyes of RAILA in parliament.
So this shows that the common MWANAINCHI is screwed even before we hit polls.

Sometimes when I hear of documented criminals running for public office and being elected I think what Winston Churchill said about Africans: "These colonials are incapable of self-rule". Sad but somewhat true.

I really hate to agree with your opinion but I must bitterly say that Africans still have a long way to go to make perfect governments. Just look at the big known thieves contesting for president in Kenya today. Do you think someone like Ruto expects to be elected?

One thing I will always remember about my fellow Luo Kidero is that famous Will Smith slap he gave Shebesh. This man doesn't take no mess.

@ Njagi:

Chapter 6 of our Constitution should be enforced come the 2022 elections. We cannot expect to make positive changes and succeed in war against corruption if the same corrupt people are allowed to change locations and run for public elective positions over and over again.
I recommend that our current presidential candidates (Raila and Ruto) appoint other better candidates from their respective political parties and both quit politics for the rest of their lives. Why? Both have closets full of rattling skeletons and should be stopped from their dreams of becoming the next president of Kenya.
