Senator Sakaja Pledges Free Lunch to All Public Schools If Elected Nairobi Governor

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has pledged to provide a free meal to school-going children if elected as the city’s governor in August.

Sakaja, who is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on a UDA party ticket, says his administration will provide free lunch to learners in all public primary schools in the county.

The senator argued that the feeding program will help to address the problem of low student turnout in public schools across Nairobi.

"The first thing we are going to do is bring a school feeding program in Nairobi every child in public primary schools will get 650 grams of free lunch every day so that we keep our students in school," Sakaja said on Wednesday during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nomination certificate award ceremony.

On Tuesday, Sakaja named immediate former Absa Bank Chief Operating Officer (COO) James Njoroge as his running mate.

Njoroge was eyeing the UDA party ticket to contest for the Nyandarua governor’s seat but he lost to businessman Kiarie Badilisha in the just-concluded nominations.

Sakaja said Njoroge emerged as the most suitable deputy governor candidate among those interviewed for the position due to his stellar corporate experience. Others who were interviewed included tycoon Jimnah Mbaru, and Paul Kinuthia of Nice and Lovely.

“Unlike many deputy governors who just sit and have tea and read newspapers, he brings a wealth of experience from the corporate world. He perfectly fits the bill of what we want to do in Nairobi,” Sakaja told Nation.

Sakaja will face off with former Equity Group Chief Commercial Officer Polycarp Igathe, who is the Nairobi gubernatorial candidate for the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

It’s a good thing if our children are fed. Well he will need to explain how he will fund the kitchen.
On a different note , I have not heard the likes of you questioning how Baba is going to fund the monthly ks6000 to unemployed and another ks6000 to those who irresponsibly or get children by the same unemployed! I heard him say he will fund it by cutting stealing and corruption. In Kenya there’s no such budget as corruption money. Money that’s being stolen was initially budgeted for. So where does Baba get this funding?

@assusta - Stop teaching Kenyans to Shan work by expecting free lunches. Only in your kalenjin land where you expect Ruto to bgive you free stolen money because you are naturally lazy bombs. Teach the kids the value of hard work and not to expect free stolen stuff.

Whether you like it or not our children feed yet they provide not a penny. We work or borrow to feed them. We don’t make them work to get food!! It’s a responsible parent or nation that feeds its children. There no such thing as feeding our children for free. It’s a duty.
Tell me about giving an adult Ksh 6000 free monthly stipend . Or giving yet same amount to single mothers who gets impregnated by the same unemployed that gets free monthly Ks6000.
Let’s put reasoning here and not dwell on unsavory tribal libels.
Sorry to say but if a nation has half of its population Invested with such thinking, as yours, then we get a regressive nation.

You lack common sense and logic simply because you are a Ruto damn sycophant. No wonder Kenyans do not want Ruto as the president because he will take kenya back to the dark days of Moi. The UDAku group of thieves are taking Kenyans for a ride to win the votes and then destroy the whole country.

Sakaja has started lining up loopholes to steal public money. He will give temporary meals instead of undertaking tangible development projects. Surely Ruto has taught him the stealing methods.

Politicians are very interesting bunch. He is right very right about feeding city kids for free but he needs to borrow a leaf from Donald Trump: Make Uganda pay for the meals.

Punda hii, utatoa wapi hiyo pesa? Misplaced priorities!! Yes fund the Turkanas under the ASAL program for a NEED basis, aka extreme drought and banditry. Why do you want to give Nairobians free lunch?

Maxiley (not verified)     Thu, 04/28/2022 @ 09:57am

This beneficence promise is purely designed for parents to consider him our candidate, since he cares so much about our kids... If he is sincere, he should support the same program even in losing.
I bet we shall see alot more empty promises as we get closer to the voting day. RAO has promised to release all petty thieves...
Another alleged rapist has promised free condoms.Remember its on condition that they be elected.Otherwise no freebee. Well,lf these freebees will come from your tax money, then you are essentially paying for them yourself.Let them tell you aconvincing lie.

On point, Maxiley! What’s preventing them and specifically Sakaja from having doing the free lunch thing for all the years he has been a senator in Nairobi? What single motion has he tabled that was successful in changing Nairobians lives? It took NMS radical transformation in the last 3 years to make a move that Sakaja and Sonko couldnt do but empty talks and promises? And they will still elect them? Wajinga sisi!!

Way to go governor. Those asking where he will get the funds should also Babaman where he will get the 6000/- package

How come Sakaja never offered the school children the free lunch as a senator? Stop lying damn it! You are the same guy who told us Ruto was lying because the money he was promising was more than the tax revenues collected. Now Sakaja wants to start making white lies to get the votes.
