Raila Wants Ruto's 2,500-Acre Ranch in Taita Taveta Surrendered to Gov’t

Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga says Deputy President William Ruto should surrender his ranch in Taita Taveta County to the government.

Speaking during a campaign tour of Taita Taveta County on Tuesday, Odinga said the acquisition of the 2,536-acre Mata farm by Ruto was questionable and should be surrendered to the government for distribution to squatters.

“Juzi anasema ati bwana Criticos alikuwa na shida kwa upande wa ushuru nikaenda nikasaidia yeye, akanipatia ka-shamba 2,500 acres…na hapa kuna watu ambao ni landless wengi zaidi, mbona hakununua hiyo shamba apatie hawa wenyeji wa hapa?” Odinga posed.

In May, the deputy president addressed the controversies surrounding the ownership of the property, insisting that he acquired the ranch legally.

Ruto, who will face off Odinga in the August 9th presidential contest, revealed that former Taveta MP Basil Criticos gifted him the vast land after he helped him offset a loan he owed the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC).

“You know even me am an elder in Mata. The Former MP Basil Criticos shared with me a small chunk of the land after I helped him offset a loan at Agricultural Finance Corporation,” Ruto said.

He urged Taita Taveta residents to support his presidential bid as he is now a resident of the county by virtue of owning the land.

“I want to ask you people of Taita-Taveta will you now refuse to vote for me, and you clearly now know am a resident here,” said Ruto.

Ruto grows maize and rears cattle at the farm that borders the vast Criticos ranch and Lake Jipe to the South.

Promise: Raila will Penetrate Ruto to the bone when he wins. If I were Ruto, I would invite Raila for a hand shake before election day. Wacha, taabu mazee.

Ruto is a very short sighted character because he knows everything; while he knows nothing.

The handshake would benefit ruto more than raila. As a matter of fact Raila does not need a handshake with Ruto because there is nothing ruto can do to rao!

Unfortunately, ruto is trying to fulfill the prophecy of ruto alone without kenyans in the picture.

Fair deal that ruto should first surrender the 2500 acres land to be redistributed to the poor people who dont have land. He got the land through corruption and other means.

The oroble with ruto is he steal every where including in the kalenjin community. You dont steal in the name of the community, just like Mp Alfred Keter says. Ruto ni wetu lakini ni mwizi sana.

If all land owned by Ruto, Moi, Odinga and Kenyatta is returned to government for public use, we would resolve 90 percent of the land issues in Kenya. Let us not politicize this, force them to keep 1000 acres each, and return everything else to the real owners, the public.

Those who have stolen tracks of land must be prepared to give up that land back to the people. Rao is for the people and we are all safe in his hands.

Wsr just keep the idea of giving up all your stolen wealth in mind.

I will vote for Raila not because he is my preferred candidate, but because he is the lesser of two evils. I do not believe he will follow through with going after Ruto because as the saying goes: he that is without sin let him be the first to throw a rock [sic].

Not too ago Uhuru bought some thousand acre land in Masai land to add to his proving claiming it was sold by a mzungu. We all know there’s no land owned by mzungu. All land belongs to the indigenous people who in other words is government. Government is not jus Uhuru and a few cabinet.
Uhuru owns tracks of land in coast region as well as Raila too.
Let Raila play double standards. If Raila don’t have anything to sell to the people, he can revert back to kitendawili and kadenge na mpira.

Wesley, I hope you are not saying Ruto is competing to beat the high and the most corrupt. In cas the president and his cronies. Am only highlighting that there is more existing and every day corruption today in Uhurus government than you could imagine in WSR.
If at all WSR had stolen anything, wouldn’t you think Raila could have known it and put it as his center stage of campaign by prosecuting it?
