President Ruto Dismisses Raila’s Call for Foreign Agencies to Probe Extra-Judicial Killings

President Ruto has dismissed opposition leader Raila Odinga’s call to involve foreign agencies such as the FBI to solve cases of extra-judicial killings in Kenya.

On Thursday, Odinga urged the government to tap foreign detectives to investigate unresolved murders including those of businessman Jacob Juma, IEBC ICT director Chris Msando, ICC witness Mishack Yebei and Sergeant Kipyegon Kinei.

He criticized Ruto’s administration over the ongoing investigation into extrajudicial killings, saying it had turned into a politically-motivated witch-hunt against former DCI director George Kinoti and a few other officers.

“We are opposed to the current trend directed by our vindictive regime and the president that seems to be pursuing a personal vendetta against specific current and past state officers in the pretext of pursuing extra-judicial executions,” said Odinga.

“As a party, we believe in the sanctity of life of every Kenyan. We believe in the rule of law. We believe in due process. We are opposed to extrajudicial executions in our country because our supporters have been the greatest victims over the years. We believe that all, not some, cases of real or suspected extrajudicial executions need to be investigated and those responsible be punished,” he added.

In a rejoinder, President Ruto said the country does not need foreign agencies to investigate extra-judicial killings and do away with murderous units of the police force.

“We don’t need advice from Scotland Yard to remove and disband the murderous units in our police force. We just need to respect our Constitution and do the right thing,” Ruto said at Supreme Court during the launch of the State of the Judiciary and the Administration of Justice report.

President Ruto recently disbanded the DCI’s Special Service Unit (SSU) which he accused of being involved in abduction, disappearance, and murder cases.

It's true we have competent investigators in Kenya who can do wonderful job. The problem is being selective. I believe that is the only reason Raila was asking for interpol assistance. In my own opinion kinoti is a very knowledgeable guy in security matters. He suppressed terrorism.
We can rest assured Kenai will never get justice under Ruto government neither Chris msando.

Times have changed. Raila represents the dirty past ( Colonial and Neo-colonial era) and we refuse to go back there.
What Raila wants or doesn't want is of no consequence, he will have a chance in 2027. It's around the corner.
Raila should be busy implementing his ideas starting with Bondo so he ca show-case them come 2027.
Give Ruto a chance to run the government until your time.
Raila, you lost the elections, for now move on!!

How come not a single soul has been arrested for the many, many, unresolved murders since we achieved our political independence on December 12, 1963?
Over 1,000 innocents Kenyans lost their lives after the 2007 election and yet, not a single soul has been arrested and prosecuted for these heinous murders?
How can we forget the 37 innocent men, women and children who went to seek refuge in a "holy" place of worship in Kiambaa church, Eldoret who were were barbecued alive without a single soul being spared? How come no one has been arrested and charged for these atrocities?
Samoei was quick to arrest those involved in the murders of his friends from Pakistan as soon as he was sworn in as the president of Kenya,
I am challenging you (Samoei) to arrest the Kiambaa church criminals before the end of this year.

Until our judiciary and intelligence agencies are capable of solving many unresolved murders such as the:
1. Election violence after the 2007,
2. The 37 deaths of innocent children, women, and men at the Kiambaa church holocaust,
3. The elimination of Ndugu Msando before the election of 2017,

We shall always need the external assistance in solving of many unsolved deaths in our country.

We don’t have to look for solutions in the EU, U.K., or the USA, we can find competent judicial system within our continent.

@Ndugu Imara Daima, I believe that our judicial and intelligence agencies are capable of solving all the unresolved murders, and other serious crimes that have been perpetuated on Kenyans. The PROBLEM IS THE WILL TO DO IT.Their wings have been clips by corruption. It's more like justice is for sale. It goes to the highest bidder.
Ndugu I mara, Ruto is right in saying that all we have to to is do the right thing. The question is why are we not doing the right things? Don't we know what the right thing is ,or how to do it? Even if Mzungu comes and solves these standing or cold cases, and offers remedy. Are going to following their recommendations? Imagine, the scottland yard,or the FBI suggesting that half of our leaders should be jailed?
Yes what we need for the love of the country, and its citizenry, is the will, and desire the to do the right thing, especially from our elected officials.
Unfortunately, it appears that we do not have the desire nor the will to solve these cases.Remember they happened to Kenyans,by Kenyans on Kenyan soil. So we did it to ourselves, and it is ourselves that have the solutions.Mzungu was not there. RIght?Kenyans can solve these cold cases. It has been rumored for many years that suspects are known.Need I say more? People we elect as leaders do not have the balls to do the right thing. They only offer lip service. And we the voters are also to blame we do not hold them accountable, especially after sprinkling afew trinkets bought by our own money...What say you?
