Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has announced they will be holding countrywide protests every Monday until the government meets their demands.
Addressing protestors in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area on Monday afternoon, Odinga said Monday’s mass action was the beginning of their fight for justice.
“Every Monday there will be protests, the fight has started and won't end until Kenyans get their right,” Odinga declared.
“We shall continue until we reach our destination. Until the price of Unga, fuel and food come down and then later for electoral right."
Odinga and his entourage rerouted to Eastleigh after anti-riot police lobbed teargas canisters at their motorcade as it left Serena Hotel to block them from accessing Nairobi’s CBD.
He left the hotel at around 3pm in the company of other opposition leaders among them Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah.
"Today we had peaceful protests in town but they threw teargas. They brought the police to stop us from accessing CBD. They have broken the law because we had given them notice of the planned peaceful protest," he said.
On his part, Musyoka demanded the unconditional release of all leaders arrested during the Monday protests among them Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo.

Maxiley you are asking a criminal hiding under “ fighting for rights” to fight corruption. He is the most corrupt politician of the time. At this time he pretends that he’s fighting for people when indeed he’s doing it for himself. He just shared corruption with the past regime. People were still starving, prices of Unga was higher than today but he was quiet. Only because he was stealing. He claims that he wants Cherera 4 whom he helped constitute reinstated with the hope that they would be unbiased in the next elections.
This old man is selfish, spoiled and everything else is about himself.
Actually I have yet to see an honest politician, more so in Kenya.Other places like USA,there are more checks and balances to ensure that when you are caught, you face the music.
You could say that I was musing with my comments.I guess just imagining what the country would like if we fought crime and corruption with the same determination, and energy RAO appears to display.
Ha ha ha ha! Ur shit failed just like ur presidential run. Loser go home
Shaka. If Raila caused the nation to lose billions in production revenues in just one day, don't you think that will put pressure on Ruto to negotiate?
“Every Monday there will be protests, the fight has started and won't end until Kenyans get their right,” Odinga declared.
From the video clips I have seen in the aftermath,I say huyu mzee has lost his mind.He wants this kind of disruption to be on a weekly basis? Even if demonstrations were totally peaceful, how many people will avail their Mondays for demonstrations?
If both sides double down on their demands, its mwananchi who is going to suffer. The two 'elephants' will never miss a meal, fuel, and elecroral right(whatever that means).Intransigence wont reduce price of anything.
Sakaja, junior of the two,is right in his suggestion. These two should sit down, and reach a compromise. These oldmen are setting bad examples.Where is their wisdom?
Kenyans are hungry & jobless they can demonstrate everyday .
why does he drive to this maadamano anafanya watu mafala sana
He's crazy. He's upgraded to Monday and Thursday. Why would someone be allowed to disrupt biz of another person and deny them their daily revenue while fighting a Govt?
The only solution is one bullet in the mouth and a second bullet in the ass!!! Nobody should be allowed to hold our country hostage, NOBODY!!!
If only RAO could employ the same fortitude to fight corruption, and other high crimes we see very day in Kenya... If we are losing Sh 2billions aday through corruption imagine what good would come from pluging the holes.
