ACK Bishops Blasts Ruto's Government for Tribal Appointments and Excessive Spending
The Anglican Church has criticized President William Ruto's suggested taxation layout, saying that the move will serve as an economic blow to Kenyans who are already held captive by financial instability.
They have rejected the proposed measures on grounds that they expose the government as insensitive to the plight of Kenyans. The members of the House of Bishops of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) denounced Ruto's regime for tribal appointments in the public service. They further spoke against the creeping lack of accountability and transparency in government institutions, calling for the institutions to be impartial and efficient.
“There is glaring tribalism and cronyism, particularly with regard to public appointments. There is an apparent lack of accountability and transparency in our institutions. This is not acceptable. Let all institutions and government agencies be impartial and efficient, and not simply beholden to political influence,” Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit said.
The bishops also requested bi-partisan talks on the 2022 presidential election standstill to include faith-based organisations. They called on the Azimio La Umoja coalition and Kenya Kwanza to engage in the talks without a shred of suspicion for the greater good of the Nation.
The bishops decried the Finance Bill tabled in Parliament, saying that a 3% deduction to the Housing Fund will burden Kenyans. They further criticised the government for not addressing the budget deficits and delayed payments of salaries. They called on the government to address excessive spending, especially during the economic hardship condition the country is experiencing.

No one in Kenya can claim to know Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto more than President Uhuru. They worked together for a period of 10 years. During those years, Samoei was warned against loitering around the country and was advised to start working as a vice president of Kenya. Samoei refused to listen to the words of wisdom from his boss but spent the time loitering around in churches, worked on his doctorate and obtained his academic PhD while being a full-time vice president of the republic! All along during those ten years, he should have been assisting Uhuru perform his duties as the president of Kenya. He (Samoei) campaigned relentlessly while at the same time insulting Raila Juma Oginga by calling him: "mchawi, mtu wa kitendawili, and mganga etc." Guess what! Samoei claims to be a man of "god!"
Just before the presidential elections 2022, the Kenyan people were warned against voting for Samoei by President Uhuru but to no avail.
We must have the courage to persevere for the next four challenging years. However, we should be optimistic about the future by making sure that Samoei is not reelected again as the president of Kenya. Samoei will join the ranks of the former USA presidents: Jimmy Carter, George Bush ( senior), and Donald Trump who were not reelected for the second term in office.
