Kenyan DJ Linked to the Death of Top DCI detective

The death of Inspector Felix Kitosi of the Dagoretti Sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has ignited a complex investigation shrouded in conflicting narratives.

Initially reported as a result of pancreatic complications, Kitosi's demise has taken a dramatic turn with the arrest of three traffic police officers and the emergence of a prominent DJ as a potential person of interest. According to official reports, Kitosi was involved in a non-injury traffic accident near Kikuyu market on March 16, 2024. However, a separate account provided by the deceased's family paints a different picture. They allege Kitosi was assaulted following a minor altercation at a nightclub, where he and his team reportedly scratched a DJ's car while leaving the parking lot.

The family claims bouncers intervened, escalating the situation and leading to a physical attack on Kitosi. They further assert that the assault continued at the Kikuyu Police Station by officers in custody, causing a deterioration in Kitosi's health that ultimately resulted in his hospitalization and subsequent death on March 22. Adding to the intrigue, the nightclub management vehemently denies any knowledge of the alleged altercation. The lack of documented procedures surrounding Kitosi's detention at the police station further fuels suspicion. The family contends that inquiries regarding the accident resulted in additional physical abuse for Kitosi.

Released on Saturday, Kitosi reportedly sought medical attention due to severe pain, eventually leading to his admission to Nairobi West Hospital. The investigation has taken a significant step forward with the apprehension of three traffic police officers. An anonymous source suggests this might be linked to their late realization of Kitosi's seniority within law enforcement. Furthermore, a colleague visiting a detained individual revealed the officers' alleged attempt to conceal their actions. The involvement of a prominent DJ and his crew, who reportedly received updates on Kitosi's condition over a six-day period, adds another layer of complexity to the case.

A post-mortem examination, disputed by the family who believe it overlooked crucial details, initially attributed the death to pancreatic issues. To address these concerns, a second examination is scheduled to be conducted by a team of four pathologists. This investigation promises to shed light on the true cause of Kitosi's death. The family awaits the results of the post-mortem with heavy hearts, questioning the inaction against the nightclub bouncers who they believe initiated the assault.

The body has been transferred to the Umash Funeral Home as investigations continue. Colleagues of the deceased officer were deeply surprised by the news, leading some to pay their respects at the funeral home over the weekend. Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei has assured that they are actively looking into the matter.

Could there be the possibility that Kitosi brought on the altercation to himself by being arrogant simply because he is a senior DCI officer? I can imagine a drunk Kitosi yelling "mnajua mimi ni nani" and the afandees responding that 'hatukujui lakini utatujua". Pride goes before a fall.
