Linda Mwananchi Rallies Head to Vihiga and Kisumu as ODM Mobilises Support

Linda Mwananchi rallies are set to take place in Vihiga on Saturday and Kisumu on Sunday, with organisers expecting large crowds and strong support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Governor James Orengo confirmed that the events are fully prepared and emphasised that Linda Mwananchi is not a breakaway faction but a recognised caucus within ODM. He stated that the initiative is aligned with the party’s founding principles and aims to strengthen its grassroots presence.

The programme will begin in Vihiga County with stopovers in Majengo and Shamakhokho before a rally in Mbale town. On Sunday, Kisumu will host a major gathering, starting with a church service and concluding at Jomo Kenyatta Grounds. Orengo described the Kisumu event as a symbolic homecoming, highlighting the city’s historic ties to leaders such as Raila Odinga, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and Tom Mboya.

Orengo characterised Linda Mwananchi as a peaceful but powerful movement focused on defending citizens’ rights and advancing social democratic values. He warned against attempts to disrupt the rallies and said the initiative seeks to revive ODM’s original mission of protecting freedoms and promoting justice.
