President Ruto Meets Muhoho Kenyatta at State House

President William Ruto on Wednesday acknowledged Muhoho Kenyatta during the Presidential Gold Awards ceremony at State House, briefly recognising him while addressing invited guests.

The ceremony brought together hundreds of young award recipients and officials involved in the President’s Award–Kenya programme. Muhoho Kenyatta attended in his capacity as a representative of the International Council of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. During his remarks, President Ruto paused to note his presence, saying he was pleased to see Muhoho Kenyatta among those in attendance.

The event marked the presentation of Gold Awards to 1,252 young people who successfully completed the programme’s highest level. The recipients were recognised for demonstrating commitment, leadership and perseverance through a structured process of personal development.

The President’s Award–Kenya programme is open to young people aged 14 to 24 and is organised across three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Participants are required to complete four sections at each level, with the Gold Award including a Residential Project that focuses on teamwork and service.

Established in 1966, the programme has seen more than 500,000 young Kenyans attain Gold Award status. It operates as a non-partisan initiative and is open to participants regardless of political, social or religious affiliation.

The award scheme remains a central platform for youth development in Kenya, offering opportunities for skills-building and community engagement.
