Danish Embassy Opens Two Jobs in Nairobi
The Danish Embassy in Nairobi has opened applications for two positions at its Regional Visa Hub, with only one of the vacancies available to Kenyan applicants.
The embassy is recruiting a Consular Officer and a Visa Officer. However, the Visa Officer position is restricted to European Union and Schengen nationals. The Consular Officer will assist Danish citizens in Kenya and several other countries, including Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, Somalia and Eritrea.
The role will involve processing passport applications, legalising documents and liaising with Honorary Consuls in countries where Denmark has side accreditation. The officer will also respond to enquiries from Danish citizens and government authorities and may assist with visa case processing when required.
The Visa Officer will be responsible for the daily processing of Schengen visa applications. The position involves assessing and deciding visa cases in line with Schengen rules, as well as maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
The restriction on the Visa Officer position reflects the regulatory requirements governing Schengen visa decisions, while the Consular Officer role is open to Kenyan applicants who meet the requirements. Applications for both positions must be submitted through the recruitment platform FUZU by 11 September.
The embassy said applications sent through social media or directly by email would not be considered. The Regional Visa Hub in Nairobi provides consular and visa services for Denmark across several African countries. The new recruitment will add staff to its operations as it handles services for Danish citizens and Schengen visa applicants in the region.
The vacancies offer different opportunities within the embassy. The Consular Officer position is open to eligible Kenyan professionals, while the Visa Officer role is limited to applicants who meet the specified EU and Schengen nationality requirements.
