Oburu Odinga Hospitalised in Nairobi Over Chronic Medical Condition

Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has been admitted to Nairobi Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for a chronic medical condition, according to sources familiar with his condition.

The veteran politician has been under medical care since Saturday, although details of his diagnosis and prognosis have not been made public. The admission comes weeks after Oburu travelled to the United Kingdom for medical assessments. He had described the trip as part of routine health management and said it followed advice from medical professionals.

In September, Oburu confirmed that he had travelled abroad after receiving recommendations from doctors and ODM party leaders. He said the visit was also an opportunity to rest away from the demands of political life.

Before his trip, the senator sought to reassure the public that his absence would not affect the operations of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He said the party had strong institutional structures capable of continuing its work while he attended to his health.

Oburu's latest hospitalisation comes amid continued interest in the health of some of Kenya's longest-serving political leaders. His condition is expected to be closely followed by ODM supporters and political observers, although there has been no indication that his treatment has affected the party's activities.

Oburu remains one of ODM's senior figures and has played a prominent role in the party's leadership. His recovery is expected to determine when he can resume his public duties. Supporters have wished the senator well as he continues to receive medical care at Nairobi Hospital.
