Former Lands CS Charity Ngilu Takes an Early Lead in Kitui Governorship Race

Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Kaluki Ngilu has taken an early lead in the race for Kitui County governor, with 1129 out of 1454 polling stations in the County having submitted their results.

The National Alliance Rainbow Coalition (Narc) candidate has so far garnered 131852 votes (48.31%).

Independent candidate David Musila, the outgoing Kitui senator, is second with 85522 votes (31.33%), while incumbent governor Julius Makau Malombe of Wiper Democratic Movement a distant third with 55571 votes (20.36%).

A win for Ngilu's would hand National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka a blow, having openly endorsed Julius Malombe for the seat.
