Mudavadi's ANC Party Threatens to Ditch NASA

Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) party has once again threatened to walk out of National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition after a dispute over House committee positions.

On Monday, ANC, one of the key affiliate parties in NASA, claimed the party was short-changed after Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi of ODM was elected chairperson of the powerful National Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

ANC fronted Nambale MP Sakwa Bunyasi, a confidante of Party leader Musalia Mudavadi, for the powerful position after an agreement with ODM that included ANC withdrawing its candidates in other house committees. On Monday, Bunyasi walked confidently into the committee room with the assurance of scooping the position, some members even were headed ushering him with “welcome chair” phrases, only for him to garner three out of 18 votes from members present. Mr Wandayi and Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu were elected the chair and vice chairperson respectively.

However, speaking at Parliament buildings after the voting, ANC Parliamentary Group chairperson Ayub Savula (Lugari MP) accused the Raila Odinga-led ODM of flaunting an earlier agreement and promised to re-evaluate the party’s relationship with ODM.

“We feel we have been short-changed by ODM... Every time an agreement is reached, they are the first ones to go against it,” he said.

Savula said the party will ditch NASA and focus on selling Mudavadi's 2022 presidential bid.

The two luhya reps or principals whatever they call themselves are just fools without charisma. They should actually thank Raila for how far he has taken them.
