President Kenyatta has summoned five Jubilee Members of Parliament who contested against the party's preferred candidates for chairmanship of various Parliament committees to State House, Nairobi.
The five MPs run against candidates fronted by the President, four of them beating the party's choices.
Jubilee party later de-whipped the five, who include Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, Moiben’s Silas Tiren, Marakwet’s David Bowen, Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey and Embakasi North’s James Gakuya, from the committees for defying the party's stand.
However, the MPs obtained court order temporarily blocking the party from ejecting them from the committees, pending hearing and determination of the case they filed against Jubilee's decision.
In a meeting with Deputy President this week, the five were asked to resign from their respective committees, an order they also defied. They have now been summoned by the President to explain their actions.
“Mheshimiwa(honorable member) the is to invite you to a consultative meeting of the environment and natural resources , agriculture and livestock, labour and parliamentary broadcasting committee with the party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta tomorrow, Thursday 18th January 18, 2018 at 8.30am at State House, Nairobi . Please be punctual," an invitation for the five read in part.
