Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's Top Official Passes Away

Nairobi County Chief Officer in charge of Transport and Public Works Richard Mutinda Kavemba has passed on.

The official passed away at Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday morning following a short illness. He was suffering from stomach complications.

“It is with a heavy heart and humble acceptance of God’s will that I announce the passing on of Mr. Richard Mutinda Kavemba. Mr. Kavemba passed on this morning at Nairobi Hospital after a short illness,” says Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

“May the family find solace in God at this time of distress and sadness. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.”

Kavemba unsuccessfully contested for the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2017 elections, losing to Johnstone Sakaja of Jubilee party.

He also run for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2013 on a Wiper ticket but lost to ODM's Evans Kidero.
